    I don't recall Maidana-Kotelnik being controversial.

And yeah, I don't think Mayweather-Canelo is a superfight. It's a huge fight mainly for Mexicans. I don't think Canelo has transcended his Mexican fanbase yet.

Matts is a tactical brawler. His talent is in catching boxers. Alexander, Peterson, Judah.. Boxers with good pop, but not ko artists.

Against a more pure knockout artist like Maidana he is at risk. mark my words. Matts fans would do well to downplay this fight cuz Chino would put the smaller Matts down and out, like he could have if they weren't wearing protective headgear in the ams.

I like the fight. Matts couldn't help but trade so his tactical side that could win him such a fight would go unused. And the crying on this forum after the fight would be delicious
I'm sorry but a light puncher in Alexander had Maidana hurt plenty, Morales' old ass had Maidana hurt. Maidana's style is to get into exchanges and his hands are much too slow to get the better of Matthysse. I could give a fuck about the amateurs, don't know what happened between the two there, not even interested in checking, but from what I've seen Matthysse kills him. I like Maidana, might even root for him, I admire that he has become a student of the game and has improved a lot but Matthysse murders him.

I would like to see winner of Matthysse/Garcia take on winner of Bradley/Marquez. Winner gets Mayweather.

I'm not sure how Maidana beat Lucas in the amateurs but from what I see in the pros, Lucas decapitates the guy. If Khan dropped Maidana from a body shot then Lucas stops him.

Their whole history matters. You can gloss over the am stuff if you would like but you can be damn sure it would be present in Matts mind when he faces Maidana.

Alexander has decent pop, and it was the speed and clinching and Maidana's poor conditioning after having just moved up that won Alexander that fight. Alexander gets a bad beat because he's a grunter that tends to shoe shine at times, plus he quit against Bradley. But if one forgives those flaws, he's a very talented fighter. Morales still had a bit left in the tank against Maidana. He went on to beat Cano after the loss. Whereas the ped thing leading up to Garcia had completely finished him off. Morales outpointed a slugger in Pacquiao, once upon a time, there is no shame in having a close fight with a tough as nails legend like Morales.

Matts is there to be hit, just like Maidana. And if you want to talk about Maidana being hurt, he gets hurt like JMM gets hurt. He gets buzzed/dropped, grabs hold of his cajones, and goes right back into his opponent's face.

Pair that with what Maidana has been adding to his game and his larger size, and you have a fuckin force of nature. Matts would hit him with his best shots, Maidana might drop, but he would get back up and stop Matts just like he did Ortiz. He's that special kind of fighter that would rather die in the ring than accept defeat, y'all will see.

He barely got up vs Khan...

I guess Maidana will be dying in the ring then. RIP.

I would add that for the Alexander fight Maidana had no trainer during the camp and the fight. Rudy Perez had cancer at that time. He also was too confident because Alexander looked horrible against Matthysse a couple of months before.

Excuses man. Lucas flew in late for the PEDerson fight and still oblitirated the guy.

Maidana = a glorified club fighter.
