Good points. However only one of these promoters is barred from America's #1 boxing network, stuck on a network that just lost 35% of their annual budget on an underperforming PPV. Also, you forget TR has global superstar Shiming. Numbers don't lie:Top rank is sinking badly ! so much $ and so many fights to be made! fight the best against the best - Golden boy is definitely leading the way . Top rank got Manny beat how the **** do you make this man fight the same guy 4 times when manny is the cash cow? now marquez won't fight him . If you guys do not think Arum didn't have anything to do with Bradley beating Paman when he clearly lost is sad, its so sad that it back fired, they where trying to create a new star, but Bradley has no charisma nor punching power so the win ended up hurting his career than helping it - to the point that he dummied his boxing skills and ring IQ to lose a couple years off his career by trying to go toe to toe with a Russian killer that can easily be out boxed - hell the main sparring partner for Bradley's camp was the man who gave the Russian his first lost and exposed his weakness. top rank is falling fast - Arum needs to step down and let Duboef take over, seems like every one likes and is willing to do business with him, Arum even came on and publicly stated how hard it will be to promote rigo after he put on a masterful display of boxing - Arum is getting up there and the top rank contingency plan needs to go into effect !
Shiming 500k for 2nd career 4 rounder, after 300k for pro debut
Golden boy Mares 375k for his p4p effort and 3rd title, carrying the aforementioned big, but underperforming PPV. Carrying the undercard, of courseLast edited by HeroBando; 06-06-2013, 05:01 PM.Comment

but for how long to you think this will be? HBO has been on top for so long that Showtime will start closing the gap - their Friday shobox series is good because they are not biased and they build the fighters up with tough matches, then HBo tries to gobble them up - signing mayweather to that lucrative contract shows their commitment to boxing - only good things can come from this - there is a good line of fights coming up for both networks so lets see, but you did make some good points.Comment

It all depends on the huge gamble Showtime made on Mayweather, it didn't start well. Even a 10% shortfall is a massive loss, when comparing annual budget. Beyond Canelo there isn't much that the public really wants to see, to the tune of $32m guaranteed. Canelo should be a big success, though break point higher cause Canelo's purse will be like 4x Guerrero's. But just as importantly, the fight will reverse the PPV momentum and may give them some breathing room next. I'd expect to see a Canelo rematch at some point, maybe next in may, unless too one sided.but for how long to you think this will be? OH he pi$$ed them off. He fought on a Top Rank undercard, but against a scrub who I don't even believe was a Top Rank fighter. He didn't anger them that much if his first fight back was on a TR PPV undercard, 6 months ago.
But the real problem is, who is there to fight below 140 that's a name opponent? Maybe Mares, but he just moved up to 126 which Gamboa can't make, plus GBP. Who else is a name, Ricky Burns? Maybe Mikey? Has Gamboa called out Mikey?
He basically helped Arum sell the undercard without Arum having to pay him. But he isn't getting a crack at any of Top Rank or Golden Boy's top guys.Comment

You might be right, but IIRC they gave him the top undercard slot for a Pac PPV, which is no joke. It's not something you get when on the outs, I was surprised.OH he pi$$ed them off. He fought on a Top Rank undercard, but against a scrub who I don't even believe was a Top Rank fighter.

I forgot there's also Donaire with TR, which would be a big scalp, but he hasn't even moved up to 126 yet. So there's just a lack of names opponents at LW and JLW. Crawford would be great, but he's no name and very dangerousComment

I think he was high on the undercard because 50 cent promised his rap show on the PPV and Arum figured since he was free anyway, might as well take advantage of that. Anyway, what I would really like to see is Gamboa swallow his damn pride and make nice with Golden Boy. There are some good matchups there for him. Would love to see him eventually fight Broner. You might be right, but IIRC they gave him the top undercard slot for a Pac PPV, which is no joke. come on bro they were making him jump form 126 straight to 135 hoping he would get demolished, they thought the big jump would be a sacrifice. They weren't throwing him any bones eitherWhat are they talking about?
Top Rank gave Gamboa a big fight against Rios, and he punked out of the fight.
The reason he isn't getting any fights is because he angered Top Rank, with his antics, and his promoter 50 cent had a verbal feud with Mayweather and Golden Boy. Basically he pi$$ed on the two biggest companies in boxing and is complaining that they want nothing to do with him.Comment
