one of those moral victories for survival, but that's all
Cotto clearly won the fight, but got a run for his money
Paulie was beaten up, yet still not fully dominated
that's still the fight Paulie is best known for
that or the one where he got his haircut

Despite losing, this was a great display by Malignaggi. You could even argue that it's his best performance ever against a top opponent. Anyway, everytime I see this fight I score either 116-111 or 115-112 for Cotto.

To have Paulie ahead, you would have to find, at least, seven rounds for him and I really don't see how Malignaggi could have won them. I am a fan of both fighters but I tell it like I see it and that is a competitive fight with a clear winner.

I had it 7 rounds to 5 for Cotto. One swing round the other way and it could have been a draw. I haven't watched it in a while though.

People look at Malignaggi's face and assume he got beaten up/destroyed in the fight which couldn't be further from the truth.

Boxing is scored round by round and Paulie won more than his fair share.
You do not count the knocked down?
6-6 with a knockdown would be

          114-113 For Cotto.

            Yeah you're right.

I scored the fight 115-112 for Cotto anyway.

Paulie gave a very good account of himself and showed a lot of grit.

it doesn't bother me when a fighter who outboxes his opponent loses because he took a massive beating

That's not true. I'm pretty sure it's illegal for anyone outside of heavyweights to weigh-in two days prior to a fight. The weigh-in took place at 1 PM instead of 5 PM the Friday before the fight. Paulie tried to save face after getting smashed, saying that the extra time (a whole 4 hours) gave Cotto extra time to bulk up.

I had Cotto winning but only by 2 rounds. Close fight.
