EBU heavyweight champ and IBF #1 contender Kubrat Pulev has been waiting for a long time for his fight for the mandatory challenger position and finally seemed set to face Tyson Fury, who however pulled out of the fight just ahead of the purse bids. Pulev is now in a position where he must wait again. At EBU level stablemate Robert Helenius was ruled to be the mandatory challenger to the winner of Pulev vs Fury - but the Nordic Nightmare is still injured and not expected back until after the summer break. I like Pulev and I believe that he is the real deal. I also know that he is trying to get fights. However, in my opinion he also needs to step up. Because a 17-0 fighter who's best win is over Dimitrenko should not be next inline for the heavyweight championship of the world. -

Haye isn't interested for the same reason as Fury: they are just waiting to fight each other for a lot of $$$ and exposure. Personally, I am glad. I like Pulev, but I can't wait to see Haye/Fury.Comment

He agreed to fight the winner of Adamek-Cunningham, then agreed to fight the winner of Fury-Cunningham, and also tried to get a fight with David Haye. Not really anything else he could've done to step up.I like Pulev and I believe that he is the real deal. I also know that he is trying to get fights. However, in my opinion he also needs to step up. While it isn't ideal, if a guy wins a title eliminator, then agrees to two more but the other people back out, then he should get the shot. Most of the people getting title shots don't even fight one eliminator or one decent opponent.
Hopefully he has one more fight before Wlad, and hopefully it's a good one. But so far he's done all that can be expected of him.Comment
