Doesn't take the fight - he's ducking him.
Takes the fight - Oh he was forced to fight him.
Are you oblivious to the fact that the force of him fighting Pacquiao was 20x greater? A guy like Floyd doesn't give in to "force", if Showtime wanted him to fight Canelo it would've been in the negotiation talks when they were signing Floyd which probably did happen and Floyd agreed. So all this pressure is nonsense.

So, if I beat an old ass Shane Mosley, a junior welterweight like Josesito Lopez and one ACTUAL contender like Trout, I'd be ready for Mayweather? Yes! Thanks Canelo for setting the path for a Mayweather fight.....Me and Mayweather 2015.....

this ****** article is on here to make the non believers think alvared is ready. first of all they never offered his ass the fight. they just put his name on money's coming out of retirement list. schaefer did it for promotional reasons. secondly he still is'nt ready for mayweather.but the boxing lesson will get taught.

Okay, we all know there never was an offer to match up Floyd and Canelo back then. The irony is, if Canelo had fought Floyd back then he would be a bigger name know. There is no shame in losing to Floyd Mayweather. That being said, Canelo is just another hyped fighter with a padded record, the fact he had 15 fights from 2007 to 2008 is proof to that.

Now, after two years when he appears to be advancing technically, the offer to fight appears to be less eagerly extended.

Besides an old *ss Shane Mosley, a junior welterweight in Lopez and a somewhat inexperienced Trout who has Canelo faced that would give you the impression that he would give a difficult challenge to Mayweather?
Something forced his hand....either Showtime, his team or himself. From hhis standpoint, letting the Canelo fight marinate for a year, letting Canelo actually headline a PPV and generating much more interest and money next year, makes more sense for him financially.
It seems more logical to me that Showtime has forced his hand somewhat in an attempt to recoup some of the lost money from the Guerrero PPV.
Canelo has over 40 fights, is still undefeated and he only has like a year or so to even fight Mayweather until the guy retires. So in reality, Canelo isn't going to even be able to get SO much better in that amount of time as to where he would be considered "significantly more ready" for Floyd than he is now.
Sure the one or two more fights could do him some good but Floyd might retire before then. It actually benefits Floyd to save this fight as his last big payday and to collect his guaranteed 32 million for the rest until then. It benefits Canelo to get the early jump on this fight before Floyd retires. Unless, of course, there is some other force pushing this fight to happen early.....like an invested owner eager to quickly recoup millions in lost revenue.
