Is it me or does Trout punches seem like they don't have confidence behind them?

Well that's the difference between Trout and Mayweather; even if Mayweather came in with a particular game plan, he'd quickly adjust once he realized it wouldn't work. Most recent successes against FMJ have been early in the fight (Judah, Hatton, Mosley). Cotto had more consistent-yet-marginal successes throughout the fight. Of course, you could pull some triangle theories on Cotto-Trout-(Alvarez), but I'm not convinced. The only guarantee is that Trout v. FMJ would be considered a snoozefest and casual fans would boycott the fight.

Even though Canelo beat Trout, Trout stylisticlly presents Mayweather with more problems. He's a southpaw counter puncher. Not saying he could beat Mayweather, just that Mayweather wouldn't of fought him if he won against Canelo.

Catchweight king? this isn't a Pac related question, this is about Floyd & Trout, aprende a leer bien vato.

He's contesting for 4 belts at 152, including the lineal one. That's more bigger CW belts than Pac for his whole career, in one huge CW extravaganza, fit for a CW King

Would have Trout dropped down to 150 to fight Mayweather? Probably not.

He would definitely do better than Canelo IMHO.
