I agree with alot of what you are saying..

But i just think that a margarito-floyd fight would have been bigger than
Floyd-Baldomir fight... I know ESPN ppv wasnt a success but Margarito came out looking like a million bucks after he made Cintron look like a little girl in there....

By the way i bought the espn ppv.. ANd it was sweet.. Mosely fought, McCline, Cintron-Margarito.... It was good imo, but im a hardcore boxing junkie who also bought Tyson's World Tour ppv and Holyfield vs Valuev and pretty much anything ever made

Remember he was the most avoided fighter in the sport at the time....
MAthyse, Paul williams, etc have all been that guy
Who was margarito's biggest win in 2005? I mean lets be serious here he was a nobody, he lost to the best fighter he fought at the time in Santos yet somehow TR could find 8 mill for Floyd but not 7 mill for Hatton or cotto later on??

No but him being a very distant B side for that does, as explained way back. As you saw, the upfront pot was about the size I predicted, after Arum's cut about 11m for Floyd. So overshot by about 80%.

Yet you don't think 8 mill is an overshot? What was Margarito's gurantee?

2.5m. i really have no idea and no interest. I just showed you an 8x less plausible offer from 2 months ago.

Answer is:: Margs comes cheaper than Hatton or Cotto,,
Say the guaranteed pot is 15 mil. Hatton and Cotto would want close to half whereas Margs would be happy with anything over 1 mil

Margs best win and coming out party was destroying Cintron...
At the time, alot of people thought Cintron was the real deal, myself included..
Remember he was getting alot of airtime on espn and hbo along with cotto, and juan diaz, and rocky juarez,, Those were the next big things back then..
              Funny how things played out

i bought that ppv as well on the strength that ebo elder was gonna fight juan diaz but he pulled out, over all i felt it was worth the price.

Coming out party for who? Who did CIntron even beat?

The top guys there were still Judah and Spinks. Margarito vs Cintron was a contender level fighter at best. Especially with Mosley hinting at moving back down.

Floyd was getting 9 mil guarantee because Margs was a threat and huge risk.

I think floyd saw Cotto, Margarito, in the Top Rank Stable and found it to be easier to self promote then to tangle with those guys 2006-2008...
Yeah nice story dude...to bad there is a link with Bob Arum saying he would have fought Margarito for 8 mil, but wanted 10 mil for Hatton or Cotto after that....Bob lowballed him with 6 to 7 mil.

                    But enjoy making stuff up.

What story are you talking about,,,

Your an idiot and obviously cant comprehend..

We are talking about Guarantees::: Cotto and Hatton want just as much money as floyd or close to it...

Floyd wasnt a proven superstar till the oscar fight...
You acting like FLoyd could command a huge purse when in fact Gatti was the draw when they fought, and Floyds best ppv didnt break 500,000 but you are going to guarantee him 8-9-10 million... You obviously have no business sense and thats why Arum has 100 million in the bank and you are typing on a keyboard in your mom's basement...

Why doesnt Canelo get 9 mill vs floyd... Cuz he wasnt proven to bring big ppv numbers, just like floyd at that stage of his career..

Please just shut up, math and money are def not your cup of tea
