Carl Froch: Andre Ward fight in 'neutral' Las Vegas acceptable

IBF super-middleweight champion Carl Froch says he would be willing to have a rematch with Andre Ward in Las Vegas.

The 35-year-old, who beat Mikkel Kessler on points last week, had previously stated he would only fight American Ward, 29, in England.

But Froch - well beaten by Ward in 2011 - seems to have softened his stance.

"If the fight wasn't going to happen and someone said it could happen in Las Vegas then I'd definitely say 'yes, let's do it'," said Froch.

"I know it's the United States but let's get it on.

"Las Vegas is kind of a neutral venue, believe it or not, because it is its own state of Nevada. They have got their own commissioner.

"I've always wanted to fight in Las Vegas in the glitz and glamour, and have my name up in lights. That is one thing I've not had in my career."

Froch's win over Kessler avenged his defeat by the the Dane in 2010 and Ward is the only other fighter to have beaten the Nottingham boxer.

"Let's keep [Ward] on ice at the minute because I've got other options," said Froch.

"He is still in his rehab with his shoulder so I can probably get a fight in before Christmas, and then in the spring or summer next year we can have a massive showdown with Ward.

"That could be the end for me because I am in the twilight years of my boxing career. Who knows? I could box on even longer than that. As long as I have got the desire I will keep going."

hbo will pick up this fight. they're usually not big on rematches, but they'll carry this fight for sure, and pony up dough accordingly. in vegas they could have it in primetime as well.

now the question becomes "can they make more money in vegas than they can in the UK?"

i think they can make more money in the UK with froch's TV money, gate money, and the additional HBO coverage and fee. obviously i can't say for sure. they'll weigh the financial particulars and make a call accordingly.

does anybody have a concrete time table on ward's rehab?

Right. So when Ward beats him again, we can hear how it would have been different in England.

          Again.

Still, I do think Ward should go over. I don't blame him for angling for good money for going over - he's the man at SMW, and he already has a clear win over Froch. He really isn't going to get a fair shake over here, so considering all the circumstances, he deserves to be made a great offer. And the thing is, he wants to fight Carl again.

So it all ready depends on how much Team Froch want it.

I do think it would be more intriguing in England too. I read an interview Kessler did recently, about how when he fought Calzaghe in Wales, hearing such an atmosphere affected and intimidated him.

Let's see how Andre handles that, though I do believe this kid is special and probably wouldn't be phased.

What's the point? Last time the fight was in a neutral venue too. If this fight is not in the UK then there's no point of having it.

Altlantic City is the Vegas of the east coast. Froch is an idiot. Just stick to fighting brawlers in England and leave the technical boxers like Ward and Hopkins alone.

The fight makes more money in the UK, imo; but glad to see Froch is willing to go back to the 'States.

                Ward by wide UD.

I wouldn't read too much into what Froch is saying. Eddie Hearn and Kalle Sauerland are pushing for a Kessler trilogy.

If the Cobra gets paid proper money he'll fight anywhere. He's proven that much.
