Comments Thread For: Erik Morales Breaks Down Mayweather vs. Canelo Bout

Former four division world champion Erik Morales remembers when was a big underdog against Manny Pacquiao in 2005. Morales was coming off a loss to Marco Antonio Barrera, but he found the magic to hand Pacquiao a twelve round decision loss. Morales would go on to lose his next four fights and Pacquiao remained without another blemish until June 2012.

Morales now reflects on the big match that involves his countryman, 22-year-old WBC/WBA junior middleweight champion Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (42-0-1, 30KOs), who faces Floyd Mayweather Jr. (44-0, 26KOs) on September 14th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

He notes that Mayweather has faced issues in both of his prior junior middleweight fights, against Oscar De La Hoya and Miguel Cotto. Both of those opponents were past their best. Canelo is younger, stronger and bigger than De La Hoya and Cotto. [Click Here To Read More]

Good analysis of where the fight is at. Far to soon to make a prediction as I think theor will be drama in their training camps leading up to the fight.

      Morales on Mayweather:

"He throws many slapping punches, simply with speed and not with any real technique".

^This is clearly coming from a man who is punch drunk.

Mayweather does slap when he loops his right though. It's more of a "whack" than a punch.

"He [Cherrypicker] throws many slapping punches, simply with speed and not with any real technique, and [those punches] are a great nuisance."
              BWAHHAAHHAH!!!!

Translation: Cherrypicker is a potshotter, not a warrior

"Canelo is young, strong, fast, but he does not have the continued pace to put together combinations. He always studies [his opponent], and looks for openings to land his shots"
Translation: The ginger lacks stamina and combination punching, he'll get beat to the punch cause he looks for openings instead of creating them

LOLs.... Morales trolling Flo.mos and Ginger nuthuggers

Well Garcia obviously scrambled his brains.. Mayweather is nothing but techinique at the highest level. He does make a great assessment of how Canelo looks for openings instead of trying to punch his way in to find one. Also an important note that Mayweather did not look his best last time at the weight against Cotto. I thought he beat De La Hoya easily without any dispute, but Cotto seemed to frustrate Mayweather then anyone seen before.
