agree that his win vs. a somewhat faded Kessler (who was once a very good fighter but not elite by any standard) is no reason to get all that excited -- Froch clearly won the fight but hardly looked great -- won it mainly with his jab and activity rate -- only rarely was able to land effective combinations and too often missed badly with lead punches -- it would make the most business sense for him to fight Ward again even though he would have almost no chance of winning -- a 2nd loss won't do him much harm and there are other good money fights for him afterward -- and if he happened to shock the boxing world (and himself I think) by beating Ward, his stature would skyrocket -- would make sense for Ward too -- would be a low risk, high reward fight for him, especially if he stops Froch which I think could very well happen....

Let's wait first for Ward to come back and fight at least a tune up. Let's see if he manages to get past his training camp without injury...

The way they were acting on ringside is as if Froch is calling the shots...Ward is THE MAN at 168 and if Froch ever wants to be the man then he has to beat Ward. SIMPLE

The Froch guys are saying they should "leave Ward out to dry" because he lacks commercial success...really they know they will get beat probably worse than the first time because Ward knows exactly what Froch is about and won't have any of that "tournament final" nerves.
Isn't that part of the problem though? He's beaten most of the good guys yet he still stays in the division.

I'm not saying he should move up but he has run out of big name opponents at the weight.

Calzaghe just ****ted over all of Froch's resume. That was brutal man, kinda borderline low blow

Couldn't agree more really. Would Froch have beaten Joe if they were both in their primes? No.

            Benn? No. Eubank? Hell no.

Froch has had a really good run, but in no way, shape or form is he one of Britain's 'greats'. He's not even a recent great, Hatton has a better resume, and was a far greater fighter, basically fighting the same style as Froch does but 10x better and was only beaten (Senchenko aside) by two of the greatest pound for pound fighters of the modern era.

It's hard to say as a Froch fan, but in a nutshell, Froch has only got where he has because of that granite chin. Having the ability to walk through your oppositions best shots time and time again works wonders over 12 rounds.

ward is basically retired since he doesn't really fight anymore(this is a good thing for my eyes)

Shot is probably a tad harsh, but Kessler did look like a diminished fighter in there and I don't think Hunter is innacurate in relation to his observation regarding Kessler's balance and how he reacted to Froch's punches. I was kind of surprised that Kessler actually managed to make it so close in the end, even if it was a fight that he was always seemingly chasing.

Froch has always been incredibly deluded with regard to his own talent and his accomplishments, but I suppose that self-belief - in addition to a very good chin, top conditioning and an awkward, rangy style - have helped him reach this far in the first place.

They are right, Froch's only been the real deal for the last couple years, he really needs to eat some humble pie soon. He needs to shut his big mouth comparing himself to the likes of Calzaghe and Lennox. If Froch can beat Ward, then yes, he can take himself to another level. Until then, he should just keep working hard in the gym and make for his people to make the Ward fight happen. His best win so far is Bute, because the second Kessler fight was against a shot fighter, as people point out. Relax, Carl.

Froch has been destroyed but he called 4 this. He called out Calzaghe when he was clearly a domestic level fighter and says his legacy is better. If they fought F A C T Joe would have whupped him. Every fighter has questionable wins and Prime Hopkins and RJJ would have beaten Joe, agruably an old Hopkins did. Ward owned Froch and said he is so slow. There are no excuses to be made either. I used to hate on Hatton because he mauled, hit and held.. but guess what Floyd and Manny dissected and exploded on him. Sometimes you need explosive speed, power and accuracy to send people home early, or either to be able to hit and not get hit, Froch has none of this. However he has cottoned onto the fact like Khan that even negative publicity sells. I tell you what, put Khan and Froch up against Prescott and Ward same night and I'll buy em. Apart from that I will not support either fighter because they are flawed loudmouths. Frank Bruno was flawed but humble, end of!!!

tbh hes just trying to sell himself.

say something boring and acceptable and hes in danger of fading into obscurity. It took 10 years for anyone to realise Joe Cal was a champion, why share that path? Quite honestly, when I used to see Joe C's name in the early 2000s I assumed from his opponent list that he was some national champion, euro champ or 'world international' title holder (the old sub top contender title). I tonly struck me that he was a world champion when he faced Lacy and then stepped up for Kessler.
