The weight class, is the weight class, and if you are fighting for a title, or defending a title of a particular weight class, you should be able to weigh in at that weight limit... however weighing 15lbs heavier on fight night is bull****.
I agree with this, would have been better instead.

People don't seem to realise that when you're at the truly elite level of boxing, just a single lb can make a ridiculous amount of difference, as anyone who has ever cut weight for a fight before will know, and that's why we get a fight at 152.

Personally, if I were in Canelo's shoes, I'd say screw Floyd and any financial penalties. Canelo's a JMW, it's a JMW fight and the JMW titles are on the line, so I'd weigh in at 154 and give myself the best possible chance of victory. If I were his manager or promoter I'd be telling him to do just that and offering to cover his losses myself.

For real? So it's not bad enough he's forcing Canelo to dehydrate himself more than he usually would, but now you want to keep him dehydrated for the fight?

More often thats going to hinder a fighter than help. We're stuck with it and its not surfaced as a problem until Floyd was touted to fight Canelo. There is so much more potential for a fighter to screw up his rehydration, than for it to actually be of some help. Rehydration clauses just put us back to where we were safety wise to when there were same day weigh ins.

I would rather a fighter overhydrate and balls that up than have more deaths occuring because fighters are having to spend their last 36 hours before a fight messing about trying to get their weight right.

So in one hand we got a fighter who wants to drain another fighter so he can loose some stamina and on the other hand we got another fighter who's making his opponent come up in weight so his even slower on his feet? What great champions we got

Floyd already fought at 154, the limit wasn't a problem for him then.

I'm saying I'd have rather Alvarez be allowed to weigh in at 154, but be limited to rehydrating to 165 or a couple of pounds higher.

All joking and pwnage aside, I'm really glad this is actually going to happen. CW' has taken the sheen off it a bit, but its still a very good fight. Floyd will win by UD and may even stop Canelo late on as he's not quite there yet.

Yes, but even when he didn't weigh 154, there was nothing stopping his opponents from doing so.

Personally, I have no real problem with a CW if everyone's happy, it just makes a bit of a mockery to drag a guy down so he's possibly dehydrated and drained when you've been moaning about other people doing the exact same thing.

Then again, what did we expect from a man who beats women? He was hardly going to be a man of morals.
