LOL. This is one of the most incredible promotional jobs in the history of sports. Much respect to De La Hoya and GBP for a job well done.

I love that boxing is getting mainstream attention though. Next week should be fun but the night of the fight, it's business as usual . 117-111 Floyd.

    • KInd of worried about this happening, because if it did, the majority of fans would not give a shit. They would defend the judges' decision to the fullest. No fighter ever deserves to get robbed. I hope no matter who wins does it fairly.

      • hmm

I don't think you can compare a robbery in this fight to what happened to Pacquiao. Canelo's upside and popularity is huge for the sport. Robberies are still happening in this sport because of the money and I don't think you can afford to rob the cash cow. I can see this being a split decision with a rematch rematch in May. Makes "cents".

        • Notice how he said Floyd dint belong at the weight I don't follow him but is his reason to hate Floyd? Breadman is the only credible boxing writer to me.

          • Sad part of this thread is that so many have actually thought about this already which means its a huge part of this sport unfortunately

when you look at Manny v bradley and all the circumstances surrounding it, the "robbery to set up rematch" becomes less conspiracy and more business reality.

I agree it is sad so manny fans have this in their minds for big fights.

              • Every fight on the 14th is ripe for robbery. It's got me nervous as hell about Mayweather-Alvarez. I can see either guy getting robbed to set up a rematch.

I'm sorry, I still don't understand in the least how robbing Manny made any sense. It is as baffling now as it was then.

Makes no sense. If its razor thin close, then yeah, give it to Canelo. Otherwise, you'll just get negative attention.
That's not how it works, the judges are paid before the fight with instructions to favor one fighter, they don't decide who to give the fight to once it's over. Arum probably thought Bradley/Pacquiao would be a close fight but it backfired.

Now in Floyds defense, he hasn't been in many close fights, but the Castillo first fight comes to mind and I think he lost that one.

Canelo is being seen as the future of boxing, and we know how wrong judges have been, but I'm starting to think Richardson has something against Mexican fighters. He seems to always have something to say about them.
He said Ricardo Lopez is the most perfect fighter he's ever seen.

It gave him a future opponent. TR has no one left. They are scraping bottom of barrel with Pac v Rios. If Pac wins then what? At least the robbery gives an option if Bradley beats JMM which i dont think he will. Sucks but i agree with Dunn on this one that it was business. Sad part of this sport
