That's why the RING belts currently equate to nothing more than say the WBC Diamond belts.... given out when there's a decent fight.

There's more RING champions that aren't Lineal champions at all (not universally):

Wladimir Klitschko (yes this one is very controversial, the argument here is that Vitali v Wlad would be the only fight to establish a true lineage)

Pablo Hernandez - beating a fighter, whom you had just beaten, does not grant a lineage just because Huck challenged a HW. Huck was still ranked at Cruiserweight

Canelo Alvarez - Speaks for itself

Floyd Mayweather - Isn't the Lineal 147 champion, contrary to Floyd-fan popular belief, Mayweather-Mosley wasn't for a universal lineage. Pacquaio/Mosley had no clear rank over one another.

Danny Garcia - he's currently not the Lineal champion. However, his upcoming fight will establish a lineage so i'm not too overly fussy on this one.

Mikey Garcia - Speaks for itself

I was just answering your post. we can agree that there are issues with the rankings at 154. being fair you have to remember angulo, kirkland and paul williams were not fighting at this point so unless its lara and floyd, Trout and Canelo were 2 of the top 154lbers.

Thanks for giving me the opinion of one source. If you think Boxingscene = Universal then that's really up to you...

Also, the RING policy currently allows for number 1 - 5 contenders to fight eachother, and they can decide when to hand out a belt. For Canelo-Trout, the RING rankings had Floyd at no.1, Trout at no.2. Speaking purely from RING perspective, that belt was awarded to the No.2 vs no.3 contender - on top of a policy which allows them to disregard fighters on whim, like Peterson. Whilst I hated his drug use, and still do, they shouldnt have handed out a belt for Khan-Garcia just because Peterson failed a test.

I'm not sure but he throws around the word Lineage in his rankings as if he blindly follows the RING magazine. I do question specifically his rating on Hernandez as I feel it's the worst one, but I never get a reply

I think you have to accept that posters saying floyd is the lineal ww champ is not based on their liking floyd but based on in the ring wins. The TRRB does agree with you and doesn't have floyd as lineal.

We can agree the RING belt is meaningless since ODH/GBP purchased the magazine. I don't even consider it real anymore.

I feel with lineages, they should be as undisputed as they come. His second supposed reign at Lineal champ is very split and so I don't recognise it. I feel Floyd/Canelo winner personally will be the 154 lineal champ though, despite the catchweight. The catchweight is still in the 154 division... though to me it does lose lustre a bit.

154 was a weak division for a while. Before Cotto entered the division:

Sergio Gabriel Martinez - Moved up
Cory Spinks - Lost to K9
Kermit Cintron - Lost to Canelo
Deandre Latimore - Lost to Quintana
Ryan Rhodes - Lost to Canelo
Alfredo Angulo - Lost to Kirkland
Yuri Foreman - Lost to Cotto
Joachim Alcine - KO'd by Angulo
Vanes Martirosyan - Won't fight anybody
                  Zaurbek Baysangurov - KO'd by K9

Cotto got the #1 spot after beating Foreman and Margarito which isn't THAT big of an issue considering who else was on the list at the time. Floyd beat Cotto to take #1, Trout beat Cotto to take #2 and Canelo beat Trout to gain a top 2 spot.

Molina and Lara have basically been shelved for a while but seem to be getting back into the picture.

Regardless, I don't see how anyone can deny that these are the top 2 JMW's right now. Even the TBRB has them as 1 and 2 and I think that's the most credible ranking system out right now.
