Youth: Youth is good to have but in this case it also translates to a deficit in certain areas. Mainly inexperience but in Canelo's case, he also has stamina issues. Athletes who do overcome issues such as stamina do it with time (age). There was a fight where Roy Jones pointed it out where Canelo was fighting Hatton. Roy Jones said "Hatton should take advantage of Canelo's stamina issues in which can happen to young fighters".

Beforehand, Canelo needed to fight good quality fighters who are slicker and have good movement. Canelo does not have that kind of fight under his belt. Check Canelo's recent resume. Most fight flat-footed or like to attack. Even Trout who knew he was behind had to fight aggressively. Floyd will use the ring and at that level, for Canelo that will be a new experience.

For my liking it happened too soon. Wished Canelo had more time and more fights to see if he would ever be ready for this kind of fight. I said this BEFORE the fight was made and consistently saying it now.
Although Canelo may or may not have been better at 154, it apparently doesn't matter if it was in fact taking place at 154 or 152 -- Most still consider it to be "too early" for Canelo to face Floyd regardless of the weight. Seems he'll just seem slower against Floyd at his own natural fighting weight.

Yet most still called for a Floyd - Canelo fight this year.

This is all still considering the fact that he'll be able to re-hydrate back to 154 and beyond that before the fight.

Now if Canelo performs better than what most expected despite the 2lbs., the same critics will go back to "Well, he was still inexperienced at that level. He could've waited another year for him to develop properly before facing Floyd."

I said it before the fight so why should I or anyone else who said it, now say something else? Canelo wasn't even fighting as often as he should recently. That too is not good for a fighter that is still learning. Go check out Canelo's interviews after he beats someone. He says that he is still learning.

Floyd sees a flat-footed fighter in front of him who has stamina issues. So their plan is to use the full ring.

As for coming in slower at 154 than 152 ..... that may actually be the opposite. If Canelo struggles to make weight at 152, he will be lethargic and consequently slow or slow down as the fight progresses. It's much better to come in comfortable at 154 and not balloon up to 172 like he did.

For years you've argued that 2lbs is no big deal. Going from 147 to 145 caused no problems yet going from 154 to 152 is almost life threatening. Canelo will be in the same condition/stamina/health as cotto was when he fought manny.

Unless of course you base your opinion based solely on what floyd says-which according to pac fans is a sign of being a, well you know the term.

You're not the kind of poster that would base your opinion totally based on how floyd feels? I mean just beacuse floyd said cw fights mean the opponent is drained doesn't mean its true.

I'm basing it on the fact that before this fight was signed, Canelo, his team, Oscar, Schaeffer were all saying that he is struggling even to make 154 let alone 152. Now add to that that when he tried to go down below 154 for a CW with Hatton, he struggled and barely made 152 even though he had to go down to 150. Now add to that that that was 3 years prior to Canelo's fight with Floyd and that Canelo has grown since then and in his most recent fight, he ballooned to 172!

Another fact is that Canelo has shown to have stamina issues. It can be due to his youth and also his weight issues. It was obvious in his most recent fight with Trout. One can rule out Canelo tiring himself out because his work rate was too high. In fact it was low!

Finally, there is another difference here. BOTH Floyd and Canelo have 3 titles amongst them at 154. PLUS, Floyd has fought at 147+ since 2005!!!

Oscar and Schaefer BEFORE the fight was signed:

"Schaefer: Canelo cannot go lower than 154 for a Mayweather fight"

De La Hoya: Mayweather has to come up to 154 for Canelo
"Canelo is barely making 154, says De La Hoya, and Canelo can’t even make 152 for a catchweight fight. "

With the above being taken into account, it's apples and oranges.

BUT my point is NOT just about the CW. It's far from it. Canelo has several issues that he needed to take care of before I can give him decent odds. The CW was just the cherry (pick) to finalize it all!

You kinda forgot where canelo and his team said hed be ok at 152. Even with that you should feel the same about 145 as you do 152. You defended the use of a cw for years now you are suddenly against them because its floyd. 2lbs was ok for cotto biut draining for canelo.

Posters like you are the same as reloaded but you figure if you call him out agressively that you gey a pass. You don't.

You were one of the staunchest defenders of the 2lbs meaning nothing. Live with and accept your hypocricy with the same zeal you keep telling reloaded to accept his. If 2lbs is ok for cotto its ok for floyd.

                      See ya in november.
