  • Yet another example of incompetent ****ty British referee ****ing up a good competitive fight. What is it with British refs that they suck so bad?

The referee has discretion when he administers a count. If a fighter clearly taking a knee and almost the full count to recuperate, you give him the benefit of the doubt and allow the fighter to get up at 9.5. That was just weak.

Having said that, watching the fight I thought "this guy is taking way too long to rise." It's Scott's fault but the ref should've given him the benefit of the doubt

To me it is as simple as this.

For a ref to count a guy out he has to actually get to and say "10" out loud.

Scott rose as he was still saying "9". He never even started to say "ten" so there is no reason for him to wave it off.

Then again I am not surprised. I always tell everyone what a joke European boxing is, and British refs in particular.

Just another case of me being proved right.

It's automatic man, you must go in expecting a British stoppage. Carson Jones last week, totally unnecessary and would have been an interesting couple of rounds. Hell I was shocked they didn't wave Tony Thompson off, probably thought no risk, it was just a matter of time for him.

Carson Jones was getting beaten up, the ref just saved him a couple of rounds of unnecessary head blows.

Thats what he does. It worked for him in the first fight and he was getting getting it worse in spurts there. Brook could have gassed from trying to take him out. Totally unnecessary stoppage

                • Its interesting reading the posts. If we all remove racism, sexism and nationalism and concentrate instead on the facts, it seems we would then be in a better position to judge things. The following seems fairly obvious.

                  A) Boxing has some corruption and political issues. Money tends to do that.
                  B) Whenever a foreign boxer fights in another country whether that be the USA , Europe etc, it seems harder for them to get fairer treatment/decisions. America is just as bad as Europe if you are a foreign fighter coming in.
                  C) Clouding the issues with personal attacks, bias etc makes it easier for 'the establishment' to get away with things like corruption. Whilst everyone else insults each other, the powers that be make the money.

First fight was a 12 rounder however, that exposed Brook's stamina. I agree that it was an early stoppage but it was a 10 rounder stopped in R.8 with Jones taking pounding head shots. I don't think another couple of rounds of that would have did him a great deal of good because he wasn't going to win without a KO (which didn't look like coming).

                      Agree with this.

Just watched the fight and definitely a joke decision by the ref. Don't know what the **** that has to do with his nationality, all countries and all languages count to ten, it just appears this ref forgot.

The fight was fairly even to that point, Scott didn't look hurt and he certainly wasn't wobbling. I think he had every right to stand on the '9'.

                      Ref should be sacked/fined.
