So lets all hold the blame on Floyd about the cw until we find out for sure that what they said on ESPN is true
I by no measure excuse Mayweather for waiting til his opponents are past their prime, but I don't see why everyone is *****ing about a CW? Floyd is the P4P champ. People want to take his title and so they should be willing to go down to face him.

The fact that he is moving up in weight to make a fight the fans want while only giving up two pounds shouldn't matter, since HE is the one MOVING UP to make the fight.

This CW isn't like Manny fighting another WW in Margarito for a vacant JMW belt with a CW of 150. Floyd is moving up to fight a JMW to satisfy the fans and only giving up two pounds.

I swear sometimes people complain just to complain. But in the end, we are all going to watch this fight.

Why do people keep saying this fight is for the lineal title? Canelo isn't the lineal champ at jr middleweight. He's The Ring magazine champ. Some might even say he's the universally recognized champ. But there's no real lineage to the title he's holding. Now, wins over Trout and Mayweather would very much be steps in the right direction in him establishing himself as "The Man." And eventually he could start a title lineage. But as of now, he's not holding a lineal title. The last lineal champ at 154 was Winky, who beat Mosley, who beat DLH. See how that thing works?

It doesn't matter. The haters on this site will believe an unfounded rumor or erroneous information from an idiot who knows nothing about boxing before they will believe the truth if the truth involves anything positive about Floyd Maweather.

THIS IS NOT BREAKING NEWS!!! ESPN is simply repeating what Mayweather said in an interview with Fight.Hype.com that was posted on the website this morning.

I still tho, can't understand why Canelo Nd GBP would make this fight right now. Floyd said he still has 5 fights left. Why wouldn't Canelo fight 2 more fights to get a little more experience, then make the fight.
I thought he lost to Trout and the show time announcers had Canelo only winning by a point. The judges give him too many rounds in his fights. Too bad GBP cant see this and they bought into his hype. No doubt Canelo is good but hes not ready for the best of the best. I think it's too early and Floyd embarrasses him. (And no his size and power won't be a factor since Canelo hasn't had a KO in a while, and couldn't KO a way smaller Matt Hatton.

Floyd by UD with Canelo only winning maybe 1 round.
. Alvarez has over 40 pro fights and two world championships. He has plenty of experience, so I assume you mean experience fighting more than one quality fighter.. The answer to your question is that Alvarez is not very good and has been protected because he is popular. If his promoter thought that he was great fighter, he would have already fought guys like Lara, Martirosyan and Cotto. Schafer tried his best to avoid putting Alvarez in the ring with Trout. When he realized he couldn't stop it, he made sure the fight was held in Texas, where Trout would have had to knock Alvarez out cold just to get a draw. They were afraid he would lose and cause them to miss out on this huge PPV against Mayweather. That is why he doesn't have any more experience than he does.

The article addresses this directly. The winner of this fight should be recognized as the legit champ in class. Ring allowing Canelo to win their belt in a 2 v. 3 fight was comical.

Funny enough, he did say in his own words..."I don't need or do catch weight fights." Those are his own words in comparing himself to "other" fighters, we all know who he was referring to. Then Richard Schaefer said, "don't believe everything you hear about catch weights, it's false." Again, not my words, the actual words of the fighter and his pseudo-promoter. Okay so then we get, Canelo rehydrates up to 170 and little thereunder. Ortiz rehydrated to 164...just saying.

So what's your feeling on the legit championship at stake at a CW? If Floyd wins, do you see him defending it? At a regulation weight, or will he need to handicap his future SWW challengers? Or will he have the decency to drop the belt on the spot if there's no intent to defend it?

Listen , ignorant, canelo does not have an amateur pedigree like floyd so he has less experience. He is 22. He challenged williams, kirkland and ortiz. Williams had an accident, kirkland was scared and ortiz lost to lopez whom canelo beat. Cotto is always hiding from canelo, just like he hides from martinez. Trout got knocked down very funny, something no one had done before. Floys is a coward, a cheater , a women beater, a cherry picker and boring. Payday?? Canelo has a lot more fans than Floyd, matter of fact, floyd wanted canelo because if canelo fought cotto on the same day than floyd, no way he beats canelo-cotto in ppv numbers.
