He must land the left hook to the body EARLY

He must start fast and he must pressure Jr, beat him on the shoulders arms elbows and break thru that guard

Canelo must start intense but get more intense as the fight progresses

He must do all he can to take Jr's legs from him from the first ten seconds

NOT go for the KO, looking for the big shot that won't come but just do all he can to break JR down from the first ten seconds.

Jr's power is lacking so Canelo won't need to worry about some sneaky punch

Love the article, but we need one MAJOR clarification...... there has been NO comparison, and will be no comparison of Floyd Mayweather to Ray Leonard ever. Floyd has a manufactured undefeated record, and nobody cares how much money he's made. Nobody cares how old Floyd is today, and when Ray Leonard "got undressed" by Terry Norris as you call it.

The competiton Ray Leonard fought in his career, let money take care of itself mentality, dwarfs the likes of who Floyd fought and when he fought them. Floyd made Mosley & Cotto wait more than 10 years to fight, to insure both were well past their prime. He nearly guessed wrong on both. Floyd STILL won't fight Pacquiao after two consecutive losses, and after Manny agreed to less money and all Floyd's demands. Manny is too dangerous. The fight would sell out in an hour. The only real challenge Floyd took was Dela Hoya, and most that saw that fight felt Oscar won the fight. So much, that Floyd walked away from a $25M rematch with Oscar. Manny has now waited for more than 4 years for Floyd.

Leonard, fought the best of the best, in their prime, multiple times, win, lose, or draw, his entire career. Leonard came back from a 5 year retirement, NO TUNE UP FIGHT, and climbed in the ring with Marvin Hagler and won a decision; nobody does that!!! Duran (2x), Hearns (2x), Hagler, Benitez... Leonard even went up to Light Heavyweight looking for a challenge. Leonard had the biggest ballz this sport has ever seen, just as did Hagler, Hearns, Duran, Arguello, Pryor, Chavez Sr...... these guys are LEGENDS. Floyd Mayweather is not in the same league as Ray Leonard or the rest of these legends who fought the best of the best, IN THEIR PRIMES, win, lose, or draw.

This is a Great fight! Pumped already! It will top the Cotto vs Mayweather PPV's i bet. I think the weight clause is just making him look a bell end and im not a fan of titles changing hands in any fight where a champion has to make a weight lesser than his division limit. That said i dont think the 2 pounds in this particular case will be of any issue, thats nothing to Canelo. Alvarez is a hell of a fighter, he has a few flaws yes and the way his career has been managed and the favouritisim he gets annoys me but in the ring he's quality. Fast hands, great power, sensational combinations, blistering body attack and a great counter puncher with an under rated defence. He is one of the very select few guys who has a genuine shot at Floyd, Mayweather knows it too or he wouldnt have proposed the weight clause. They should gel nicely together too.
Alvarez's team have been fancying a Floyd fight for years, they must feel they have the style and game plan to beat him somehow.

Im backing the Proven time and time again ageing quality of Floyd Mayweather. I think a close but deserved points win sounds about right

I see it that way too.But I think it's going to be very exciting for awhile but down the stretch Alvrez's stamina is going to play a problem for him.Canelo is a big kid,it's getting harder and harder each fight to keep making his weight class.Floyd is smart,the 2 pounds don't seem like much but Floyd wants him to work harder and be drained going in.I think it plays in Floyd's favor.It's going to be a fun fight the first half.

what other opponent has floyd put at a disadvantage? also, check my question about whether this 152 lb weight limit gives floyd the ability to use 8oz gloves, since fights @ 154 lbs+ require 10oz gloves. remember, he begged the commission to allow him to use 8oz gloves against cotto, but they strictly prohibit it. this could be the reason why the catchweight, if that's the case.
