Why does it have to be going by belts? I thought the whole point of figuring out the true champ was to ignore the sanctioning body belts. Before Canelo beat Trout, his best win was Rhyan Rhodes. How that justifies him being the #1 contender, which allowed him to fight for the ring I belt I have no idea. Lara and Molina have much better cases than Canelo to be in those #1 and #2 contender spots than Canelo. I remember when Molina beat Cintron, Cintron was considered the #1 guy in the division. He also got ****ed out of a Kirkland win, and many believe a Lara win as well. Lara should have wins over Pwill and Vanes. Pwill and Vanes > Trout and Rhodes.

Floyd can choose a catchweight because he is the face of boxing right now. Damn he could even have told Canelo to come down to 147, that ginger head should be grateful that he is making his biggest pay day! Stop crying about the CW lol so what if Floyd called out Manny for catchweights, obviously he is human and will talk bs and contradict himself sometimes. I mean the guy was saying that Jessie Vargas is the future of boxing LOL

cherrypicker called pac out on catchweights to denegrate pacs wins... but then that means cherrypicker shouldn't get any props for beating the ginger either... that's why it matters... if cherrypicker's catchweights are legit, then so were pac's

Never been a fan of the catch-weights but lets be real here, 1lbs difference isn't going to affect a 22year old Alvarez. Especially after a 153lb weigh-in.
that's not the point.... the point is that cherrypicker and flo.mos were shi.tting on pac for making catchweight fights... but not they have done a 180 and totally okay with catchweight fights. We call B.S. cherrypicker and flom.os can't have it both ways

Floyd has a manufactured undefeated record, and nobody cares how much money he's made. Nobody cares how old Floyd is today, and when Ray Leonard "got undressed" by Terry Norris as you call it.

The competiton Ray Leonard fought in his career, let money take care of itself mentality, dwarfs the likes of who Floyd fought and when he fought them. Floyd made Mosley & Cotto wait more than 10 years to fight, to insure both were well past their prime. He nearly guessed wrong on both. Floyd STILL won't fight Pacqkinduiao after two consecutive losses, and after Manny agreed to less money and all Floyd's demands. Manny is too dangerous. The fight would sell out in an hour. The only real challenge Floyd took was Dela Hoya, and most that saw that fight felt Oscar won the fight. So much, that Floyd walked away from a $25M rematch with Oscar. Manny has now waited for more than 4 years for Floyd.

Leonard, fought the best of the best, in their prime, multiple times, win, lose, or draw, his entire career. Leonard came back from a 5 year retirement, NO TUNE UP FIGHT, and climbed in the ring with Marvin Hagler and won a decision; nobody does that!!! Duran (2x), Hearns (2x), Hagler, Benitez... Leonard even went up to Light Heavyweight looking for a challenge. Leonard had the biggest ballz this sport has ever seen, just as did Hagler, Hearns, Duran, Arguello, Pryor, Chavez Sr...... these guys are LEGENDS. Floyd Mayweather is not in the same league as Ray Leonard or the rest of these legends who fought the best of the best, IN THEIR PRIMES, win, lose, or draw.
U cynical purist bastard! Lol You stole my thunder cuz outta this whole article that bothered me the most. I found it comical when today's fighters are compared to the fighters of yesteryears. I think Floyd is the best pure talented fighter that I've laid eyes on. Key worf obr outta a few others. But I also know my history. I know Ray Leonard at the tender age of 25 took one of the baddest WWs of all times in a 15 round affair. He also moved up yo 60 to take on one of the best MWs of all time. The list goes on. Sweet Pea imho is the best defensive fighter ever! Really should of been undefeated. Trinidad Ramirez DLH and that BS draw against Chavez were all jaded. Floyd was born when he was born and his work ethic is bar none. Those guyd tampered with drugs etc. But those guys also fought in a time where a guy like Kevin Howard would be a lineal champ today. Boxing is weird today. I like seeing the fighters in control to weed out bloodsuckers like Arum but the fan in me wanna see intriguing matches not what's best at the ticket counter. Floyd career will be remembered half empty half full depending on who u ask. I lean on the he fought the best st times. Like for instance the Canelo fight seems right financially but stylistically wrong. I always thought Canelo was a man made GB action figure. The Trout fight proved my point. The catchweight is only interesting bcuz it was Floyd who had such a stance agsinst catchweights. So imo tge fight already has a slow leak.
