Using facts on the Scene to combat ignorance is pointless.....Here are the facts.
Judging by fight night weights, Hoya and Cotto were regular sized Jr middles.
Canelo on the other hand is huge for a Jr middle.
Floyd clearly wanted to even the playing field on this one, as he isnt even considered a big welter himself.
Another fact is we are all better off with this fight happening at 152 then not happening at all.
I'm with you, I'm just content a fight of this magnitude is happening.Comment

let's hear them
"regular sized" is opinion based. as long as a fighter comes in at the division limit the day before the fight, any "rehydration" is allowed. it's been this way ever since Boxing did away with same-day weigh-ins. some fighters choose to only rehydrate a handful of pounds. other fighters balloon up. it's allowed, and isn't up for debate. period. that's a fact.Judging by fight night weights, Hoya and Cotto were regular sized Jr middles.
"huge" for a jr. middle is opinion, and irrelevant to the fact that he's allowed to rehydrate to whatever weight he's comfortable at on fight-night. Victor Ortiz weighed in at 147 against Floyd Mayweather, and rehydrated to 164 on fight night. Floyd weighs in at 147-150 during his stints at WW/JMW and we can only guess that he doesn't rehydrate much beyond that as he doesn't list his fight-night weights.Canelo on the other hand is huge for a Jr middle.
Floyd clearly wanted to even the playing field on this one, as he isnt even considered a big welter himself.
you're right, he wanted to gain an unfair advantage given the fact that he himself doesn't gain substantial weight between weigh-in and fight night, whereas this particular opponent feels comfortable doing so. whether or not the advantage (in Mayweather's opinion) is psychological or physiological is up for debate.
that isn't a fact, it's an opinion. but one that I agree with. but criticizing Mayweather for a catchweight doesn't mean I don't want to see the fight. I wanted the fight to have zero loopholes for people to use after he wins the fight (and he will win the fight), but now he's given the haters he so adamently dislikes ammunition to use against him. something he clearly didn't need to do (catchweight at 152).Another fact is we are all better off with this fight happening at 152 then not happening at all.
or did he?Comment

Floyd RUN All U Want & Call It 'Defense'; Canelo WILL Knock U Cold Inside 3!
Floyd needed a 2 pound catch weight, but didn't need one for Cotto???? Then Floyd bagged on Pacquiao for negotiating Cotto down to 147 or 150, whatever it was. Pacquaio also fought Margarito who on fight night outweighed him by 25, 30lbs. Floyd just trying to get in Canelo's head. I have late breaking news: Canelo IS NO Robert Guerrero. Canelo has crushing power in both hands. He will cut the ring off, much like Marvin Hagler did, he will make you fight, because you will want to jab, run and circle. When Canelo hits you Floyd, you'll stay hit. This fight won't take long, and if Floyd cooperates and fights, this fight will get over sooner. Floyd, your "0" is aboout to go bye bye... no matter how much you run.Comment

I am glad the fight is happening but I know even 1 pound can make an enormous difference and Floyd is intelligent enough to know it as well.
I have grown up surrounded by professional boxers and I have seen them struggled to death to loss a pound, boxers that had hired professional nutritionists and still struggle a lot. I just hope this doesn't happen to Canelo for the sake of a good and competitive fight.
What I really hate is Mayweather asking for a catch-weight when he can't respect one (Like against Marquez) This is totally coward, pinche sin verguenza
