      Warnings -> deduction -> DQ

      It wouldve been fair, but Ward wouldnt have done it enough to get DQ'd if the ref had been better.

      Ward took advantage of a **** ref. Kessler would never beat him but as a fan of Ward, i cant honestly appreciate that fight

        This is why he loves his hometown advantage. The ref turns a blind eye and he gets his W. That's all that matters right?

          It's been a while since I've seen the fight but there was definitely one headbutt that I can recall being completely intentional. He charged in like an excited billy goat. Kessler should have started throwing subtle elbows when he rushed in with his head.

            Headbutts left, right and centre.
            Should have had a few warnings and probably a point off.
            But it ain't up to Ward to ref the fight.
            It's up to the ref to stop the dirty tactics, not the fighters.

              Obviously you've never seen Mares vs Agbeko 1

                None were intentional that I can remember, even then, all the warning or point deductions in the world wouldn't have made it close, Kessler got schooled, think people need to move on. Another thing, if Kessler felt victimized then he should have taken it upon himself to fight dirty.

                Gonna re-watch the fight again, it's been that long.

                  still, we've got to make sure we mention that kessler initiated a ton of those clinches himself, and he played along with virtually all of them.

                  unless one guy is herculean strong, it takes two to clinch. you can keep your hands free and continue to punch if you want to.

                    DQ'ed? Please..

                    A point taken away would have been appropriate, two would be a stretch but not out of the question in denmark. A DQ would be absurd anywhere, there werent as many headbutts as kessler fans and ward haters want to pretend there were. Also some werent any more wards fault then they were kesslers but people just blame ward for all of them regardless.

                    Headbutts or not ward outclassed kessler in evey area, it wasnt even competetive. Obsessing over a few fouls that werent called doesnt change the fact that ward is ten times the fighter kessler ever was and would dominate him anywhere under any circumstances. Anyone who denies that is just delusional.
