Comments Thread For: Hunter: Khan Should Accept Mayweather Shot if Offered

Virgil Hunter, the trainer for former champion Amir Khan (28-3, 19KOs), believes the British superstar should accept an offer, if presented, to face WBC welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. (44-0, 26KOs). Khan has been mentioned as a potential Mayweather opponent in the near future.

Khan would be a considerable underdog in the fight, which Hunter admits, but the trainer indicates that Mayweather's advancing age, of 36, makes a potential fight offer nearly impossible to pass up. In other words, Mayweather has stated in several interviews that he plans to hang up his gloves when his exclusive Showtime contract expires. There are five fights remaining on the contract, although Mayweather is not obligated to fight five more times within the deal structure. For Khan, and other potential opponents, it is now or never if they want to get Floyd in the ring.

Virgil aint ****** he smells that money!!!!!
Bein khans trainer he knows that is his chance to get a piece of that floyd money along with the shine none of his other fighters can or will bring to his table.
But as a trainer he knows khan aint got a chance an ud figure all this age talk would be put to rest after seein how young floyd looked in that ring his last fight i say age will only come into play his last two fights if he extends his career that far that is but even then khan aint the guy who will beat him now or then.

It is note worthy that Khan's trainer hasn't expressed the opinion that Khan could actually beat Mayweather.
