Issue is about HBO's credibility, or Showtime for that matter. I've never heard anyone questioning Nielsen ratings, except Schaefer. Seems everyone just wants to believe what they want to believe.

Would you admit that your big star's event flopped?

the TS question is about showtime releasing ppv numbers. what does a schaeffer quote about HBO nielsen ratings have to do with that question or showtime's credibility?

        Not a ****ing thing.

i think the number is important in guaging if floyd can fight "anyone" or "someone". I think by now they could've counted easily. It don't see how it did as expected given floyd's lack of marketing/promoting and shelving the "money may" stuff.

But the count isn't what the cgarcia type posters care about-its how they can carve out space to post **** about floyd.

I really think the numbers are indeed low. Why else wouldn't they release them???? Idk but if ST did in fact lose money, I don't see how they can let Floyd fight a guy like Devon Alexander in September. The numbers would be worst.

Seems whatever numbers HBO released in the past can now be questioned according to this Schaefer logic. I doubt whether the one million mark is really achieved in some cases. (Everyone knows Ortiz/Mayweather didn't reach 1M.)

Showtime and Schaefer are so used to seeing numbers released by HBO (which he now questions because they kicked his ass) over 1M and they can't believe they're this low in the Guerrero fight.
WROONNGG. Richard was not referring to ppv numbers. He's referring to Nielson numbers from FREE viewers. Also, No one said Mayweather Ortiz didnt reach a million. It did reach a million, but they added in an extra 100 thousand. They made it 1.1 or something, when in actuality it was only a smidgeon over a million

Of course it is below 1 mil. Or else they wouldn't shove Canelo down Floyd's throat.

If they were over a million, there would've been no time wasted in boasting about it. The release about Floyd-Cotto doing 1.5 was put out not even a week after the event by HBO. They couldn't bring it to people's attention fast enough.

Showtime rule of thumb, never release PPV buys (for boxing) if it is lower than 750K. So, the bout was a total business failure.

                    there ya go...
