response to all Mathysse haters.
if Mathysse is a 1 dimensional fighter, why Blocked all Peterson's jabs with a technique called Parrying with the rear hand? Why he is a master technician using outside and inside slip and attacks at the same time? if he is 1 dimensional, why he is able to set up traps all the time against everybody? If you are just a puncher like Maidana or rios you become predictable cause you are following a pattern. Mathysse not only sets traps, blocks and parry jabs, moves the head, evades to the outside or the inside and connects, defense and attack at the same time.there you hve the reason why He is undefeated.Analyze boxing as a boxer not as a viewer of ko's.

There's little reason to believe Matthysse doesn't have a higher threshold than Garcia for punch resistance - he ate a flush Judah left uppercut and it drew a smirk - in addition to having more firepower at his disposal. Even if Garcia were to hurt him, it's a legitimate question as to whether he'd be able to finish him particularly after his last bout in April. I actually think Danny's hook is a bit better and sharper in regular practice (Lucas has power in both hands but does prefer the right), but if they trade them it'll be Garcia who falls.
I think Lucas showed us he can use both hands while having power in both as well.

i mean, with the khan KO, garcia leapfrogged the whole division. people forgot about bradley, maidana, matthysse, peterson, etc.
im not a garcia hater, i think he got heart/talent, but i feel he hasnt "earned" it like the other guys. ESPECIALLY the likes of matthysse who has been putting great work in this WHOLE time.
if garcia can convincingly beat matthysse, then i will gladly eat my words. until then, matthysse is the king @ 140, IMO.
At the time Garcia beat Khan, Khan was presumed to be number 1 in the division since Peterson (who was number 1 after beating Khan) had just got caught with PEDs. Bradley and Maidana were already campaigning at Welterweight (bradley vs. pac, maidana vs. alexander), and Lucas had just beat Humberto Soto (journeyman). So call it perfect timing but, Garcia rightfully deserves the NUMBER 1 spot because he knocked off the Number 1 fighter glass chin or not. Now Lucas will have his chance to prove he is indeed number 1, but Garcia deserves his spot even if he did benefit from perfect timing.Last edited by hhwff3000; 05-28-2013, 03:23 PM.
