Ward definitely tired late, but I think it had as much to do with the way Ward fought as it did with anything Froch did. In a rematch, I don't think Ward would spend every round trying to muscle Froch like he did the first time.

Good point, bt if he doesnt out muscle him and push him back he doesnt have anything to to deter Froch from walking him down. I think Ward fought that way because he knew he had to. It was in round 12 when Wward was looking at the clock and was aknowledging Carls success when he was landing which told me if it was a 15 rounder it could get interesting but he built up too much of a lead.
Tactically Carl got it spot vs Kessler. I dont think he did vs Ward but if he starts quickly next time vs Dre its his best chance. Chasing the fight caused him to make more mistakes. He has to use that jab like he did vs Kessler to keep Ward busy before launching his attacks, it brings your punch numbers up

Imo he should go in there and try to take him out from the opening bell. Froch has the better chin and the greater power. Turn it into a brawl from the off.

i gave froch the 9th and the 11th, and the 11th was very close. ward won the 12th and looked much fresher in that round.
tired?
everybody is tired at the end of a 12 round fight. fading? i think that's an overstatement. fading in comparison to froch? not even close. he took one round off and took a couple of clean punches (the 9th, literally the only round in which he was hit cleanly.)
i watched the first six rounds of that fight, and the last four, this morning. froch has a great gas tank and chin, but so does ward. he wasn't compromised down the stretch any more than froch.

Secondly, contrary to popular opinion imo he stands a better chance of beating Ward by attacking him in the early rounds. Last time Froch stood and boxed with him early, that's a road to nowhere. Ward isn't the greatest starter either, Abraham took a couple of early rounds off him.Last edited by Weebler I; 05-28-2013, 08:59 AM.

Its not the best thing to hang your hat on going into a fight - the other guy tires.
Ward did tire though. It was the first sign of weakness I've seen from him since Darnell Boone put him down. That's why Im not totally convinced that Ward is as close to flawless as someone like Mayweather. I rarely see Floyd getting ragged like Ward did late in the Froch fight.
