You're right about Carl caring about his legacy. Lets be honest, he had a big chip on his shoulder regarding Calzaghe degrading him (wrongly imo) and has always wanted the same recognition to be seen on the same level.
To do that he has to become no:1 in at least one division. With Calzaghe being no:1 in two divisions holding the Ring belts in both, then Froch for his legacy has to beat Ward.
He doesn't have to, it's his choice and there are other fights out there, but none other than B-Hop (a legend) or Ward no:1 and pound 4 pound no:2 will give him the legacy he craves.
I rate Cleverly but most don't seem to, not yet anyway and he is just an alphabet champ at the moment. Froch probably see's him as high risk low reward from a legacy standpoint atm. If Carl beats him now it won't do much for his legacy, until Cleverly's got a name people will give him credit for. It'll be written of as just an alphabet champ never at that standard.
Does Froch want to try and go for no:1 Ward or a legend Hopkins to give his legacy a serious boost? If he fails at least he went for it and can retire with no ifs or buts.
The alternative to not fighting them is a legacy that he won't be happy with if he only take fights that he is happy to face stylistically now.
If he doesn't face Ward or Hopkins and Kessler retires, I don't see a huge amount out for him, certainly nothing that enhance his legacy.
You can rule out anyone at LHW as he said he can't do that. You're left with Bute (pointless from Carl's perspective) and then Stegliez (alphabet champ) will he come out of Germany and unproven guys like - Groves, DeGale that if he beats now people will say 'they weren't at that level' etc.
I really can't see a fight other than B-Hop or Ward for him to take that does anything for his legacy, Froch fans don't seem to want him to face either as they don't think he can win (at least being honest) and I don't think he wants to or thinks he can either. Its a quandary as to what he does next?
Froch claiming he can't fight as a light heavyweight is bull****. Most of the top super middleweights and light heavyweights have the exact same body type. He just knows his style probably won't translate. He'll likely be outboxed by Dawson, although I'd be very tempted to pick Carl to break Chad mentally. He's be skooled by Hopkins. And just from a style standpoint, his face first, take two to land on approach might not traslate again slightly bigger, probably slightly harder punching foes. Much like AA's style didn't translate well at super middleweight coming from 8lbs south.
If you had Froch-Ward 115-113 you are either biased, ****** or both.
That fight wasn't close. At all.
I'm not sure you can put it like that.
I mean, it is universally agreed that there was only 1 winner; Ward.
However there were many close rounds in the 2nd half of the fight which Ward coasted and focused on staying safe. Dominated is too strong a word. He outclassed Froch though.
Won't use same tactics?! Lmao. He's too slow!! And too open to hit. It's not about tactics. It's about genetics. He can't beat Ward. Never will. Move on. Take comfort in fact that no one will beat Ward.
Lol settle down. I have no doubt Froch gets beat, I only said he wouldn't use same tactics and by that I mean stand there looking to trade all night. Ward's got a style I doubt anyone in this generation will beat (within his reachable weight).

It really was bro, not because Froch was doing anything but because Ward just coasted and did nothing in the second half. In the first half I agree it wasn't close it was total domination, but then Ward did nothing for the rest of the fight. He was ineffective. He was the better man you can tell that just by one round and he was clearly the winner, but if you're scoring it round by round, Ward gave a lot of rounds away
Froch's only hope is that both of Ward's hands get injured in the first round.
If only one hand is injured like in the last fight then Froch will still lose.
If non of Ward's hands are not injured then Froch will get knocked out. Froch can only hit those who come in straight lines and can't move their heads otherwise a boxer he cant hit a boxer. He could not even a single punch on Andre Dirrell. He spent the whole night going forward and getting hit even though he got a gift from the judges he lost almost every round to Dirrell. ANyone with eyes and a brain saw Froch losing to Andre Dirrell.
rubbish, box rec punch stats had froch outlanding dirrell, many stweart, dan Rafael, buncey and even big ragu all had froch beating runner dirrell. Dirrells face was a bloody mess wheras froch was unscathed.
Plus dirrell did illegal ducking with back of the head below the waist, and should have had more than one point deducted with his illegal holding.
Froch wouldn't be facing the same Ward as he did the 1st time -- Ward is now a more aggressive boxer/puncher than a safety 1st tactician -- Ward is a better fighter than he was then while Froch showed signs of slippage against Kessler -- less effective combination punching, more wild home run-type lead punches that didn't come close to landing and left him vulnerable to counter punches -- Froch all but admitted that he can't beat Ward which everyone should know anyway....
If he wants to get his A$$ embarrassed in front of his fans in Nottingham I say...GO GIVE HIM TO HIM! And pick up a nice big easy payday in the process!
Even Froch fans don't give him much of a chance but I guess they figure some hometown help in Nottingham will make a difference...IT WON'T! I think Froch gets beat even worse in a rematch, he looked even slower to me against Kessler
Why would Hunter say Froch is a fool if he fights Andre again? It's the only money fight out there at the moment for Ward.
Hunters just playing mind games trying to bait Froch to fight Andre again in the UK. Andre doesn't have a lot of options right now even though he is the king at 168.
