He's right about Ward needing him more than he needs Ward. There's hardly anybody out there thats a marketable opponent for Ward.
Froch, Chavez jr (once he's had a couple of bounce back opponents - and if he moves to 168), GGG in a few fights time again if he moves up. That's it.
Froch has Groves or DeGale for a big domestic clash, Kessler 3, Ward rematch, Hopkins, Cleverly (another big domestic fight).
I doubt Steiglitz is gonna be in a hurry to face either of them.

Why would Froch come here for the rematch? It isn't like he really needs Ward to make the big bucks and nobody is really calling for the rematch anyway. Ward is going to get frozen out of all of the big fights simply because nobody wants to fight a guy who is THAT good, with THAT few of fans, in his own backyard. If I'm Ward, I realize these guys don't need me and grow some balls.

this is true, years ago when i was on another forum (2004 or 05) i remember his name buzzing and some guy was taking pictures of his fights, he was earning a solid reputation even then.

I agree that Froch has to make Ward an offer that Ward can't refuse to get him to the UK
I don't think it's the fans... so much as the judges and refs
Yup... but Ward is gonna have to go for the KO or totally outclass Froch like Cherrypicker did Guerrero and Rigondo did Donaire... otherwise he could get robbed.
the UK fans have a lot of interest in that fight happening in the UK... in the US, there's other fights we have to look forward to.
I think Froch and Hearns want Ward, just not in the US
problem is, they are clearly the best in the division and there really isn't anybody else... so it's a slow division
yeah... if Ward is that good, he should give Froch a handicap
I agree... Froch is the money man and money talks, but Froch gotta give Ward an offer he can't refuse... he just can't be postering in the media but not really negotiating the fight
sure there is... about a couple million dollars
I hope Froch does get his rematch in the UK... so Ward finally has to fight outside his comfort zone
Yep, Ward should let Froch fight Hopkins first and see if Hopkins gets robbed in the O2. But the risk here is that if Hopkins wins, then Ward ain't got no one to fight.
I guess he can have a tune up, but if Ward is that good, it wouldn't really matter
I think Froch deserves it, he did a lot of traveling for the super 6
cause Froch makes more money in the UK
Froch fans aren't Hatton fans apparently
they could do the same thing in the UK no?
Meh... not necessarily

My thoughts:
London is just as semi-neutral as Atlantic City, both get paid more. Carl travelled to another country for the Ward fight so it's only fair in my opinion. At that point, Carl didn't have to travel - he was a champion also. London and Nottingham are totally different places, and if you want to argue boxing terms, are in different jurisdictions of the BBBC.
Ward is only going to expand (fanbase) in a UK fight - he simply isn't going to connect anywhere else in the US. It just makes sense.
Carl has more than done enough to deserve another shot at the 168 title.
People seem to confuse the idea that ranking/skill determines when and where fights take place, that the champion determines everything. This is true when the champion is also the draw, but we have a situation where the challenger is the draw. Having the fight in London does not benefit Carl other than allowing him to fight in his home country, a luxury of which he didn't have for most of his career.
This robbery thing is getting ridiculous. Carl/Ward was in the US, yet two judges had it 115-113. Does this mean your argument is that Ward should only fight in Oakland where the judges are on his side? I bet that's a hard one to admit given the amount of people who criticise him. Theres no evidence to suggest Ward would be robbed in London. A controversial scorecard in his home city, sure, but I don't think Froch is asking for that. It's highly ironic that many US posters are here despite their big boxing cities being absolutely infamous for blatant robberies left, right and centre - theres just no need for all this robbery stuff.
I see the posters have crawled and scuttled out of the woodwork, and have decided to take on Ward's side (Despite giving prior criticism) just to make this a nationalist thing. I thought this was the 21st Century and people were capable of decent debate, but clearly i'm wrong here.
Anyway, hope a rematch happensI was calling for one after the Bute fight, even though I was in a strict strict minority. I had the fight 117-111 Ward and saw Ward nearly stopping Froch, though Froch came back very strong at the end. I saw Froch winning the 3rd or 4th round, with the 1st round being either way. I have no idea how the judges saw 115-113 but the right man won.

after all the Ward bashing Froch has done...the worst thing he can do is fight B.Hop next
peep game... Brandon Roy, Dirk Nowitzki, Amare Stoudemire ,Joe Johnson, Pau Gasol and Elton Brand get paid to play the game more than LeBron James does....the 4 time MVP and the world's best player....some dudes are over-paid and some are under...but you'll never hear ball fans place ANY of those dudes over LeBron
