Comments Thread For: Omar Narvaez Tested Tough, Gets Split Nod To Retain

Estadio Luna Park, Buenos Aires, Distrito Federal, Argentina - Felipe Orucuta (27-2, 23KOs), with the legendary trainer Nacho Beristain in his corner, fought his heart out and some felt the young Mexican boxer had did enough to win, but Omar Narvaez (39-1, 20KOs) get a twelve round split decision to retain the WBO super flyweight championship. The scores were 118-110 for Orucuta, and two cards of 115-113 for Narvaez. Orucuta outworked Narvaez in many of the rounds and landed the hard, crisper punches. Narvaez would often run for most of the round and then attempt to steal it in the final moments with quick bursts of punches from both hands.

Orucuta should defo get the rematch, I wouldn't go as far as to call it a robbery, But I thought he won, close but clear. Narvaez is on his way out.

Even the same TV commentators in Argentina had Oricuta ahead. The irony is that Narvaez recently criticized Sergio Martinez by saying that Maravilla received a gift decision against Murray and now both boxers are even exactly in the same situation. Narvaez knew that if he could finish the fight on his feet the judges would give him the victory. That is why he celebrated like a little child who is going to eat cake because he was very sure of what was coming which was the horrible home decision.

Yea, but if you ask him, he'll find a way to justify his win

I had it 115-113 for Orucuta (and that's being generous to Omar), but I knew Omar was going to get the home town decision, there was no way without a KO that Orucuta was going to win. BTW I watch the fight in HD on the TYC channel.

Shiet even the Argentine play by play team had Orucuta winning. It's a bull**** robbery.

Never the less, there's a bright future for this young warrior.
