I would say it was a little different from the Gatti/Ward fights as those guys had plenty of losses before they fought each other, whereas tonight a loss would have a big impact on their career, but i understand what you mean-the fights will always be evenly matched, like Pac/Marquez,Barrera/Morales

I think undoubtedly Calzaghe fought one of the best versions of Kessler. Kessler looked shop worn last night, his timing, rhythm, footwork and overall sharpness has all visibly gotten a little worse, he is not consistent anymore. His skill, power and experience kept him in the fight. I personally feel Kessler is slightly the better fighter prime for prime. He is the better boxer, he is better in more departments, a prime Kessler would have been able to keep the pace and would be more free with his hands. Froch is too easy to hit, and I think a prime Kessler makes Froch miss more, I see him winning a close UD 7 times out of 10. Froch's toughness and Kessler's lack of head movement always keeps him competitive in this fight.

Calzaghe does a number on both these guys prime for prime. Well we saw Kessler, once Calzaghe made his adjustments he just pulled away after a competitive first half. Froch would be similar, he is too slow to hit Calzaghe and can't outwork him. I see a similar fight, Froch competitive early, Calzage makes adjustments, and tbh I see him being able to win the fight more than one way.

kessler that fought calzaghe was in his prime - he hadn't really been involved in the fights with calzaghe, ward or froch so he was very fresh.

imo that version of kessler was quicker and would have eked out a decision against froch last night

Somebody's forgetting he was the first Briton ever to win a medal at the amateur worlds, can't do that without being more than technically sound.

Prime for prime: Calzaghe > Kessler > Froch, and it's not even close.

Kessler said he hurt his right hand even before the fight, Kess at 100% probably beats Joe.

Dawson is a solid 175 fighter. Calzaghe fought at 175 for the first time. Shall we compare how Dawson looked at 168?

The Kessler that fought Calzaghe looked stronger. He was fresh and had better balance, more stamina and speed. Calzaghe has immense stamina and work rate and Kessler kept coming back in the 11th and 12th even if he lost the middle rounds.

Kessler now has not showed that hunger. Post fight he looked dejected but said ah **** with a smile after Sky asked him about a rematch.

Kessler has looked poor in some sparring around about 2010. Ashida (African guy, wrong spelling?) was making him look like he was not a champ.

Kessler in 2007... yes 6 years a go was much better.
