It's not hard to figure what's going on.

Showtime made it clear they want Canelo for Floyd's next fight. Haymon and Schaefer understands this so they've been working on it aware of the fact September is just a few months away. The need to announce it as soon as possible is a must.

Guess who's making things difficult? You can say it's either Canelo camp or Floyd, or both. Floyd is, as usual, is giving a take it or leave it offer. Canelo camp wants some percentage of the PPV or something and they won't back down. It's a waiting game at this point and see who's going to bite. Meanwhile, they have to show they have their own respective plan B's...

Floyd sr. has been campaigning for a khan fight because he knows khan is no threat to floyd. I think floyd sr. has a lot of influence on who floyd fights.

He just had a gimme fight against Guerrero. You want to give him a pass for another gimme fight against china chin Khan?

I'm pretty sure it's the weight that's the issue. Mayweather wants it at 147.

His record is everything to him and he thinks that beig undefeated is what his resume and history is all about!! Not sure why he doesn't understand that a great champ fights his best challenges but its HIS show and his WAY!

Mayweather vs Khan is the ultimate joke!! To me this guy has gone to far with a match up like this! Its insulting!! If he does this he's a joke to me and all though I don't regard him as a great welterweight by any means he is a terrific talent who prefers to rip off the public!! He knows he can do too!! Ray
People call Odlanier Solis, Gamboa and Dirrell waste of talents cause of their set backs but Mayweather is another waste of talent himself. This guy could've been one of the top ATGs if he really challenged himself. In his eye he really thinks he is cause of his undefeated record and money he makes but he's not.

If he goes thru with this he's as talented and as pu$$y as they come. Not sure why he would run from the Ginger. The kid is just isn't good enough to beat Mayweather.

Sure Floyd/Khan will be big in the UK but it wont do big ppv #'s nor will it be a major attraction here in the U.S. For the sake of boxing please dont let this be true. Khan just went life and death with a C-level fighter.
Floyd's deal with Showtime is guaranteed. All he has to do is basically show up to fight an opponent. If the numbers didn't do well, that's Showtime's problem.

And why are you people so gullible? Even if Floyd Mayweather tweets that Khan is the leading contender, you cannot believe it. Remember Devon Alexander?

Right now the pressure is on Floyd though. Although he might have his guarantee from Showtime I'm sure that they arent just going to let him fight any tomato can he likes and pay him for it. He needs a BIG fight in Sept to make up for the Guerrero bout.

On the other hand Canelo is still an up and coming star. He can still fight a guy like El Perro without feeling the pressure from the network/s to pull in big numbers like Floyd. With every win after Trout Canelo only becomes bigger and bigger. He can tell Floyd to go fkuk himself like he did for the May 4th bout and continue to build his stardom.

If Floyd is smart, he takes the fight in sept while he still has the upperhand when it comes to $ negotiations. The bigger Canelo gets the harder it will be to come to an agreement. It will be Floyd/Pacquiao all over again.

Showtime overpaid for Floyd but I HIGHLY doubt they are going to let him fight Joe Schmo and pay him a $32mil guarantee for it. It would be the dumbest deal in the history of business. I'm almost positive that the $32mil guarantee comes with an approval of a suitable opponent from Showtime.
