I think he'd need that just to get into the Hall. People seem obsessed with throwing every single champion in these days though.No. It helps his case for making the Hall of Fame one day though, but not even close to an ATG.
He'd have wins over Kessler, Pascal, Abraham, Johnson, Taylor, Bute, and a questionable win over Dirrell. Nowhere near an ATG.
To get that title, he'd have to beat Kessler here, beat Hopkins, and probably beat Ward in a rematch.
If he had those wins, Kessler assuming he wins, Pascal, Abraham, Johnson, Bute, Taylor, Dirrell, and added Hopkins I'd be ok with it then I guess. Before that though, some of these nuts saying he's a shoe in for it are ****ing daft. It's like having let McGuigan in. Apart from his political stuff, the guy was utterly undeserving.
Dirrell is ****. He's done nothing his whole career. Full stop.
Abraham, good win.
Pascal, decent.
Johnson, old and way past his best, but ok.
Taylor, was already done. Decent win I guess though.
Bute, good win.
But that equals HOF material? That list puts Froch up there as among the greatest champions our sport has ever produced and among the very, very best of this generation and deserving of being recognised next to the legends of the game?
That's what the HOF is for.
Without Kessler and Hopkins, that line up, while a good run, is simply not HOF worthy for anyone. Yes, the HOF is not as exclusive as it should be, but that doesn't mean we should start talking about letting everyone and their paper title in. Ward should get in from this bunch of SMW's, maybe Kessler I guess, but as it stands now, Froch shouldn't.
IMO.Comment

For those that not only think he's a shoe in for the HOF already, but could be considered an ATG or borderline, let's just take a look at something, just as a little aside into the effect perception has on people, Calzaghe has beaten:
Bernard Hopkins, still near prime (in hindsight).
Mikkel Kessler, undefeated, prime.
Jeff Lacy, decent win.
Roy Jones Jr, shot name.
Chris Eubanks, good win.
Robin Reid, good win, prime.
Charles Brewer, good win.
Byron Mitchell, good win.
Richie Woodhall, good win.
All top rated legit world champions. Not using any contenders.
Compare to:
Abraham, good.
Pascal, good.
Taylor, past it.
Reid, shot.
Johnson, well past it.
Bute, good.
In all reality, hate aside, that ****s on Froch's in both quality, quantity and the timing of the opposition (when they fought ie. past it Taylor, Johnson and out of peak Kessler, shot Reid etc).
Now, that's also not even going into guys like the Dirrell's for Froch. Don't forget people, Dirrell has not even won a paper title in today's title ridden, give 'em away era. He's nothing more than a talented contender at this time.
We could add in Sakio Bika, Omar Sheika, Juan Carlos Gimenez, Mario Veit, blah blah blah.
Now, Calzaghe, with a record number of title defenses, HOF wins, two division lineal champion, undefeated, is a certain HOFer, but people would argue black and blue whether he is an ATG.
Anyone trying to say Froch is anything other than a pretty good, tough, exciting, and hilarious champion, or even going so far as to say he's a HOF lock is ****ing off their chops.Comment

You are on ***ing crack if you think Dirrell isn't better than all those guys you listed(in the sheika bunch) and half of the wins you listed as "good" wins on Calzaghes resume. Brewer and Mitchell are both not "good" wins. Froch has a better resume than Calzaghe even if he walked away from the sport yesterday. For those that not only think he's a shoe in for the HOF already, but could be considered an ATG or borderline, let's just take a look at something, just as a little aside into the effect perception has on people, Calzaghe has beaten:

....and there we go. Point proven. Nothing more than perception. While I do agree Ward needs to fight outside of Oakland, he most definitely does not need a belt to validate his supremacy @ 168.
I don't think Froch reaches ATG status, but he will be highly regarded as one of the best out of the British boxers.Last edited by Prawn Jovi; 05-25-2013, 01:49 PM.Comment
