Martinez may have gotten the victory against Chavez Jr. but in the process, his career was ruined. Chavez Jr. ruined Martinez's career and he will NEVER be the same. Thanks man. I try and be honest and my opinion is based on my knowledge of the sport mainly. Vera is in for it. Chavez could outbox Vera. That's how bad of a fight this is.

Surprised you're writing Vera off so quickly. Vera is a very live opponent; he's gritty durable guy and he'll go into this fight with will to win. I wouldn't be overly surprised if he made this a very difficult and ugly fight for Chavez

This better be his last sub par competition. Other than fighting sergio his career has been built on fighting smaller, average fighters. I think he should be fighting murray aug 3rd. Murray gave martinez everything he could handle and certainly hurt him.

I agree with this. On a side note; if Chavez Jr. has learned his lesson as far as taking care of his body between fights and not smoking weed( Smh), then look out! The kid is tough as nails and he can fight. He has an under-rated skill level and can become a HOF if he's serious.

The Murray fight was highly controversial, and Martinez's own mother was quoted following the fight as saying that it was the worst decision she had ever seen and that her son had disgraced his nation. Bit harsh, but it annoyed a lot of people.




In a sense, Junior did beat Martinez.

Chavez wants to stay at 160 and will probably end up fighting Murray in his next fight for the WBC interim belt. Then he'll finish the job against Martinez next year and then administer an all mighty beating to Golovkin.
