Velez is a tall FW. He will have a good height and reach advantage over Mares. This will be a great Puerto Rico vs Mexico card.

Velez was dominated by Jose Beranza.....I don't see Mares losing. Velez has the footwork of a new born calf....he leg stance doesn't allow for great balance.

PR Best Boxing in some cases, Universal and Miguel Cotto Promotions are not doing justice to their young contenders. Their records are being built like fighters coming from the Midwest. One thing is to built a record with fighters who will not win but at least will expose the fighters to different styles and from time to time give them a challenge and the other is to put them in with fighters who way overmatched or being ko'ed left and right.

Then when they try to fight for a title or face stiff opposition and have to dig deep they look overmatched because they lack experience. That is what is going to happen to Velez. He's going to get steamrolled by Mares.

Velez vs Mares as the co feat for a PPV undercard sounds good to me. I like the idea of GBP putting Mares on another PPV undercard.

They dont have a Bruce Trampler advising them. That is a guy that will make a star out of any fighter with talent or limited talent. Look what he did with Cotto. He is doing the same with Verdejo.
