Interesting if true, but I'm sure they wouldnt have had any problem pulling out of the brook fight in favour of a much more lucrative fight with Floyd. I would suggest they were promised the fight after RG. Whatever is the case, I called this one a long time ago.

      Maybe late.

But I wouldn't be surprised if it went the full 12.

firstly, the choice of robert was trash, i always thought so, and i said so. that fight was always always going to suck because he had no chance. doesn't matter how exciting a fighter is, when they're woefully out of their depth, its gonna show.

so did the fight suck? hell yes.

is a fight with alexander and floyd going to suck worse?

youd better believe it. I'm 100% serious. it would be even worse. not only would he be out of his depth but he wouldnt press the fight. he would make floyd look terrible too.

be careful what you wish for. be really careful. cos a floyd-devon fight would really really bomb.
What your not understanding is, Floyd will outclass any fighter from 140-147 right now. If the Canelo fight doesn't go through, Alexander is the next most deserving option.

Your discrediting this fight because he has a "boring, ugly style". But the last handful of opponents Floyd has fought have had exciting styles and all of those guys got outclassed. What does that tell you? Floyd makes these "exciting, action" fighters look ordinary. He turns them into boring fighters. You can not beat Floyd Mayweather by mindless pressure and high output. You need skills. And before anyone says it, yes, Castillo was a very skilled fighter and applied "effective pressure".

These recent opponents don't have the speed and quickness to match him. So let's look at the realistic options if Canelo falls through:

Garcia - Exciting? Hell yeah. But exciting against Floyd? Come on now. Flat, footed, slow, likes to counter....boring fight.

Matthysse- He has a punchers chance. I like the fight personally. Would rather him fight Garcia. But personally, I think he gets picked apart. And he's never fought at 147 before. Hatton was a good fight on paper but looked like **** at 47.

Khan- No fights at 147, brutally KO'd 2 fights ago, has some business to take care of. I like the fight if he gets a couple of good wins, but not for 2013.

It's time for a new fighter, with a different style to get in there. Zab Judah is an ordinary fighter that had success against Floyd because he was able to match his speed and quickness in the early rounds.

Ortiz got his shot, Guerrero got his shot, Devon should get his.

It's his IQ and chin that will be his downfall, IMO.
Floyd is one of the most accurate punchers, if not the most, in the sport and Khan gets rocked by cuffing blows. This will probably be over in the first three rounds.

Since his comeback I thought Cotto and Ortiz were exciting fights.

Your reasoning is sound in terms of who deserves the shot, but let's be honest Alexander isn't making up the extra PPV sales Showtime need. It's very unlikely to happen imo.

I think those 2 win more rounds than Garcia, personally. I still have to see how Matthysse looks at 147.

Bradley would be a good fight too but I wound't give my hopes up on that one.

ShowTime mentioned him. Watch Floyd's interview on the Smith/Bundrage fight where they list potential future opponents.

And Mayweather called Kevin Cunningham personally before he sent out that tweet earlier in the year. I think if the IBF/WBC didn't step in that the fight would have been made in May.

I am stating right now that he avoided him in 2006 and you can go and check those threads when it's being discussed and see me clearly stating that he avoided Margarito in 2006.

"plus you're always hanging on the nuts of the floydiots"

No, not really. These are the same people I argued with in those threads Regarding the Margarito fiasco.

i argued with you countless times that the margarito fight was not as lucrative as taking the baldomir fight just based on the fact that baldomir had the ring championship and the wbc (i think)

sometimes i couldnt imagine being this dude, spending literally on your time on site obessing over one man, making homsexual and bigoted/racial remarks over and over all day every day. its almost pathetic to a great degree.

That was all before the Guerrero PPV numbers though wasn't it?

Floyd basically did those numbers on his own, they'll surely want a 'name' this time to bring in extra PPV.
