Mattysse and Maidana are not alike.

People on this board keep comparing Matthysse to Marcos Maidana with the attempt to discredit the mans boxing skills, all you need to do is look at their one common oponent which is DeMarcus Corley, the fight between Corley and Maidana could've went either way since it was very competitive. Within six months Corley fought Matthysse and was knocked down more than 6 times and stopped by the 8th round.

Honestly the only similarity between both fighters is that they are both Argentinian and tatted up. Lucas has the ceiling to be an elite player in the boxing game while Maidana is at is best a stepping stone.

Maidana is perhaps a bit better than you are saying, but yes Lucas is superior to maidana. faster,Better punch selection, Variety and timing and more power.

Agree. That is just a way to discount Matthysee and peg him as a head hunting brawler. Matthysee has more skill and a great chin. Maidana is always exciting and fun to watch but Matthysee is clearly better.

They also both fought Alexander despite them happening at different weights. Lucas destroyed him where Alexander won every round with ease.

Lucas is far better all round and has far more dimensions to his game than the plodding right hand happy Maidana. I'd even go on record and say he hits a lot harder.
Hes better in every department and I genuinely mean that, every department.

Matthysse is clearly a much better fighter, we already saw how a slow starting Matthysse dismantled Alexander, where as Alexander completely dominated Maidana. Another thing, Peterson destroys Maidana in my opinion, Maidana has improved but that's what would likely happen if those two ever fought.

Matthysse is a much more sound boxer, you should be able to tell that just from watching them fight for 1 minute each.

Both are offensive minded but Maidana is a wild slugger for lack of a better term, while Matthysse is much more patient and efficient with his work. I don't think Matthysse has very good defense but I think he is better at avoiding damage than Maidana also. I would say both are tough as nails though.

Maidana could KO Pederson, he gets dropped a lot and Maidana hits hard enough.

I've been saying this for a couple years but Argentina makes the most exciting fighters pound for pound. Their fighters come to kill you.

Both can punch, but Matthysse puts a lot of emphasis on his single shots, a lot more meaning behind them, and as pointed out he variates his attack. Maidana is more swinging for the fences, Matthysse is more about trying to get down your rhythm, reading your every moves.
