Good stuff. Smoking weed before competition might be dumb but you shouldn't be banned or fined for it.

I was a massive stoner in high school, we would be stoned 24/7. My friends and i would always have a session 5 mins before football training. We were all really lean and are cardio and running form was the best in the team. We did it all year and won the premiership, i even won a individual runner up best and fairest award for the whole league one year while using recreational drugs chronically. In conclusion i think marijuana can benefit an athlete, i guess it depends on how they interpret the drug and how they see it through they're eyes.

I spar all the time high with amateurs and pro's alike, the only argument I could see for it being a performance enhancer would be that it loosens me up and gets me in the zone. Pain reliever? Prolly not, any pain relieving effects would be negligible and thats a straw man arguement. If you think blazing helps physically, your ******ed. You are putting smoke into your lungs, it is a detriment to you physically. Mentally I could see an arguement, I don't do it specifically to relax or loosen up, I just like to get high and alot of times I'll smoke right before or on my way to the gym.

Now granted I don't do this everytime, but a pretty fair amount, and I cut it out if I got a fight coming up or if I'm supposed to be helping someone get ready I want to be a sharp as possible.

One day I snorted 3 perc 10s and then blazed, went to the gym and I made a complete judgement error against a southpaw and spun out the wrong way, got my nose broken and ****. If you think doing recreational drugs like weed or pain killers are going to give you some performance edge you clearly don't compete at any decent level in this game. Meth or speed? Dudes do that **** all the time to work out longer and harder, prolly helps keep the weight down too.

My perception has always been that it is essentially unregulated and unanalyzed (this is mostly a political thing--there is really no other excuse for the failure to adequately analyze the substance at a federal level, under an official capacity), and therefore outside of the purview of what could be allowable/unallowable (also allowing to its illicit status in most jurisdictions--a status which is nevertheless changing in recent years).

Why exactly is that? The problem with marijuana is that it stays in the system for a long time (up to a month or so). This in effect leads to false positives--that is because the substance is not allowed in competition, but is not banned out of competition. Therefore, this is a very plausible, and indeed necessary step, which has been a long time coming.

Marijuana is not a performance enhancing drug, and this is not debatable. Unless someone wants to argue that recommended doses of ibuprofen is a PED.

Sorry but Weed isn't a performance enhancer it may slow down busy minds to focus on things a bit more but more often than not it brings on anxiety and paranoia which by no stretch of the imagination is an enhancer its a limiter. When have you ever heard anyone say i'm gonna smoke this blunt and go on a 10 mile jog? Never.

It's supposed to help guys hide the use of other drugs.

If that is the definition of PEDs, anything could be a PED, right down to green tea, Gatorade, chocolate, or protein powder. The whole conversation is ridiculous. I understand why marijuana is currently banned by WADA for competition use, but I don't think anybody could actually argue that marijuana is a PED. (Sometimes diplomatic statements are necessary from sports representatives, but lets be real.)
