I dont like this from Hearn and I think people are being a little harsh on Gonzalez, maybe. I think his inexperience cost him more than his heart. Its all very well for posters here to say he could have fought on, but only gonzalez knew what he had left and what he felt he could do. He should be applauded for coming to Scotland and giving Burns the fright of his life. He is just starting out, he looked very good, very promising and may well learn a great deal from this. I hope so.

I would love to see young Omar Figueroa get a shot at Burns, I think he would knock Burns the *** out!

Miguel Vazquez with his style...he will get ROBBED big time against Burns, they had him up against Gonzalez on the cards which is ***in Hilarious to me
The judges had gonzalez up on the cards by 3 rounds I think and they were American judges.

Figueroa would be easy work for Burns.

Burns is not a bum. Let's get that straight, he has boxing ability he has nice jab. He can box.

He got exposed in the sense that he's definitely not the best at his weight class, nor is he second best or third best.

Miguel Vasquez, Richard Abril and Adrien Broner would beat him easily.

Even Gonzalez proved he's the better boxer, but he lacked heart.

But I favor Ricky Burns over everyone else in that weight class. A guy like Figueroa would get light up by Ricky.

Burns not a Bum but he is probably the weakest Champion at 135 at the moment I will say that!

^^^This exactly. I think Hearns is just scared a rematch would put Burns on the canvas, because that nearly happened. As for Gonzalez quitting, you're right, we don't know what he was up against. But yet guys come on here like you have to die in the ring to make them happy. Great example - Ortiz vs. Lopez. Stacks of guys on here saying he was a quitter in that fight. Then the doc said he would've bled out had he not gotten to the hospital right away. I guess he'd have gotten respect if he would've in fact bled out, but no other way? Skroo that. I'd choose life and the opportunity to fight another day over death ANY day.

I actually kinda, sort of gave Ortiz a pass for that fight. This though was more like when Ortiz quit vs Maidana.

I think blaming Gonzales heart is not justified enough. This was a huge step up in competition, the boy is still and was young that night. He'd never faced a fighter near Burns skill and throughouly dominated him albeit gassing out and possibily quit, broking wrist or not.

It's obvious there would be no rematch, too risky, sadly now I think Chelo may become a fighter who few champions will want to face. Want to see him, and Burns again on how they do on their future bouts.

After his performance on Saturday, no question he is the weakest champion at lightweight.
