That's just talk. Peterson's the much better boxer and he knows it. The issue is that Matthysse is at least a decent boxer and mixing that with his concussive power is dangerous. Matthysse is certainly for real. I just don't see Peterson having much of a problem using footwork and keeping Lucas on the end of his punches.

did you watch the Judah fight? Judah was getting boo'd for fighting a such a slow pace.. Lucas was outlanding him... check the punch count.. I had that fight more clear than the Alexander fight.

He was boxing ATLEAST on par with Judah and Alexander

See the guys Lucas is sparring. Massive. Super middleweights saying he is a freak of nature... Can't wait till he batters Pederson.

As Khan said - Peterson's straight punches will be his main asset.

He clearly beat Judah, who ran backwards all night jabbing into the air while getting pounded with hard clean body punches all night and then kicked his ass the last few round. Its amazing how HBO convinced so many people that running and missing 95% of your punches is "outboxing"
I think he beat Devon but it wasn't due to his boxing. It was his "come-forward and land clean punches" style that won that fight.
So to be a "boxer" you have to always go backwards? Lucas clearly won rounds against him, meaning he landed more then he received in return, i thought thats what "boxing" was.

When has Peterson used "Footwork" and keeping fighters at the end of his punches to beat anybody? In the Khan fight he just went str8 after him with a "come forward and land clean punches style".

Of course I watched it. I wouldn't comment otherwise.

Judah was getting boo'd for fighting a such a slow pace..
So was Guillermo Rigondeaux against Donaire.

Punch counts are very unreliable. Just watch the fight and decide from there. And the last point is your opinion which is perfectly fine. I just don't agree.

Then it should be very obvious who landed more clean harder punches all night

So was Guillermo Rigondeaux against Donaire.
Yea but the difference is he didnt get out landed with the better punches all night long

U dont need punch stats to see Lucas clearly landed more and better punches all night. Just watch the fight

along those lines we know for certain that he's a beast. is he enough of a beast to beat lamont peterson?

the question with every matthysse fight, at least that i ask:
is matthysse too much of a beast for any gap in skill to matter?

peterson's got a classier approach to boxing, in terms of his skills. he was a top amateur, and he's been in there with top pros and had some success using his toolbox.

is matthysse too much of a beast for peterson to beat him with his boxing? matthysse can be easy to tag, can peterson hurt him? and who will come forward?

i want to know the answer to the last three questions, and can't be certain until they fight.
Through accumulation maybe, and if Peterson starts the engine early he could land plenty, more importantly to the body. I think Peterson may try to box early, that's usually what he does, and if he gets touched up he will come forward. Peterson is far more comfortable in the pocket, better defensively there, but he will attempt to see whether Matthysse can deal with his boxing.

I gotta say though, Peterson's ability to box is decent at best, Ortiz, Bradley and Khan had most of there success when he moved backwards, it became tougher for them when he moved forward, although Tim dominated him.

Larmont's a beast. If someone's to be knocked out it will be Matthysse. He's kind of overrated imao. I'm not saying he's not a hard puncher just that his overral game is overrated.

I guess we just weren't watching the same fight, apparently.

He literally just did that with Kendall Holt. Footwork, head movement, good jab, and efficient punching.

Man, I love the mentality of this guy. You just know he is gonna give anyone faces, HELL.

Lamont Cheaterson is gonna get HELL. I hope Matthysse punishes Cheaterson.
