Should Miguel Cotto go back to 147lb?

Personally I think he's too small for the natural younger 154lbers & I also think that was his most effective weight to fight at, just my opinion, what yours?

    Thanks

he's too fat! He'd rather fight at 160 than 147 because he's a lazy fat ass.

Not sure he could at this point. Your spot on though he is certainly far more effective at 147 than 154, too short.
At this stage in his career u wonder if he has the drive to train hard enough to get to 147 even if his body lets him! Im not really feeling this Freddie Roach as his new coach chat either, Pedro Diaz seemed a great fit for Cotto.
Im a Massive Miguel Cotto fan and even after all the wars and weight classes he is still a highly capable fighter but there is no question his best days are behind him. He's a stump of a fighter at 154, his own power isn't what it was south in weight, he busts up rather easily now and he is in with bigger stronger fighters at 54. Id like to see him hang up the gloves but i will continue to support and root for him until he does.

You have to wonder how his career would have went had Margarito's wraps been exposed before their fight rather than Marg vs Mosley!

I agree with what you said. I think Cotto has always been a welterweight and still is a welterweight. However at this point in his career he should go through with the huge money fight with Canelo that will almost certainly happen in September. He should train hard and give it his best effort to beat Canelo. I am sure Canelo will beat him. Then he should cash his big check from the Canelo fight and retire. He has planned well for his future and he will be a rich man the rest of his life and a boxing hero in his country. There is no need for him to keep fighting and risking his health unless he just loves to fight.

Personally, I think he should just hang the gloves up he's slowly becoming just a pretty name on a resume at this point.

Yes, he definitely should. It's simple. He should keep Pedro Diaz and hire a strength & conditioning coach/nutritionist. But the main ingredient to make a run at 147 is desire. I don't think Cotto has been willing to put in the necessary work and make sacrifices to make 147.

For everyone saying Cotto is done or shot who wins Cotto vs. Bradley or Cotto vs. Marquez or Cotto vs. Guerrero? All of those are winnable fights for him.

I think he should go to 147 and hire Roach to bring back that pop into his punch, he's become a mover lately no pop when he connects. Roach and ariza will do him some good. And him wearing those 8oz gloves will be a huge difference.

Cotto has no business being at 154lbs.
