Yeah he's lost 2 in a row but 1 was to the goat according to most on here and he gave Floyd his best fight. The Trout lost was tough. I think he kinda slept on him and he couldn't handle or adjust to the style I guess. Cotto-Canelo is a great fight as long Cotto shows up. Big name still, solid fighter and could pose a threat to ginger. Props to Cotto if he gets this chance. He's a small jr mw too and at least he or his fans aren't making excuses about the weight.

He just beat Trout, he can have a tuneup. No disrespect but Cotto is done.

        Exactly this ^^^.

Cotto gave floyd a very tough fight, tougher than guerrero did. Cotto barely lost to austin trout. Trout happens to have a very tough style to beat and he gave canelo a very tough, close fight. This will be a very tough, competitive matchup.

I highly doubt this fight will be on floyd's undercard. That wouldn't make good business sense for anybody, except for maybe floyd. Canelo needs a giant name like mayweather or cotto to put his own name up their with the elites so he can start getting the big ppv bucks. Then he can start selling fights on his name alone and he can fight the lesser known guys like lara, kirkland, ggg, and still make the giant paydays.

And if floyd-canelo did happen it would be huge and I guarantee gbp/showtime would want to milk that matchup for at least one rematch.

Fight would be more relevant if Cotto fought Smith for his belt. A fight he can easily win.

canelo fought 41 bums/old people/JWWs... mayweather actually fought champions coming up and beat top P4P fighters

Alvarez & his peeps trying 2 build up a totally shot fighter that needs 2 retire...better if it was Mosley/Cotto...guess alvarez, the most protected boxer in all divisions by WBC( never has fought a #1 or mandatory, won the title vs an unranked jr welter in Hatton, who was a '47#er, guess he never heard of Kirkland or Lara???

Kirkland pulled out of a fight he had with canelo as soon as he got it. You can't call Canelo the most protected figther after his last fight. Lara didn't even stop Freddy Hernandez a couple fights ago. Cotto is the 3rd biggest draw in the sport and just had 2 competitive defeats. Canelo might have been handed the title, but you can consider his championship reign legitimized with the Trout victory. Trout earned that belt and Canelo took it from him in the ring.

To be honest, regardless of the boxer, if you lose 2 fights in a row, it's shamefull to be in discussion for a title shot. cotto is a hof boxer, but this would just be a terrible way to end his career. i get the mex vs pr thing, but as huge as a boxing fan as i am, i wont be watchin this. we support fights where people shouldn't be there, then we will never get the fights we SHOULD see. jmo peace ya'll
How about we just support good fighters? Cotto is one of those, and even in defeat we get some great fights. I don't understand why people call him shot or why a few losses in boxing is a death sentence. Let's not forget he gave Mayweather his toughest fight ever and he was outsized by the defensive Trout who wouldn't stand and fight. Canelo/Cotto will be a great fight as long as it lasts.
