Its funny all fighters including Hopkins, Ward, and everyone praise Mayweather as the best but fans. Floyd is up there with the Leonard's, he's not as great as Robinson but Floyd is one of the greatest boxers to ever step in the ring.
that's a great comment and 100% on point! all the great fighters and great trainers all do say the same things and then there are those people that say he's a runner and a dodger and blah blah blah, ol dumb azz haters
The problem is everyone thinks u need speed or power to be Floyd. Cotto was very effective with his jab. The real problem is everyone underestimates Floyd's power and overhand rights.
You need a good jab and enough stamina to maintain pressure for 12 rounds. BUT more importantly, you need a good DEFENSE to avoid getting countered all night. Everyone ingores defense and just tries to put pressure on Floyd. When the start eating right hands all night they stop putting on pressure and its game over. A good jab, pressure, and defense is the key. Speed and power aren't as important.
The only active fighter that has a style to pull this off is Rigo IMO. But of course that will never happen because Rigo is too inexperienced and fights several weight classes below. (Plus I don't think he gets past Mares.)
Mayweather will retire undefeated because there is no opponent currently in boxing that has a good jab, can apply pressure, and has a good defense, and would be ready for Floyd in two years.
The biggest Floyd haters all know he's the best. Is he unbeatable I don't think he is. Hope that doesn't make me hater cuz that's not really fair. Also I just wanted to see him fight PAC. There's nothing wrong with that. Now I wanna see him fight Canelo or Sergio but the weight is the issue. Well with Sergio cuz idk why weight is an issue as far as ginger goes. They both have fought at 154. Is there anything wrong with wanting that fight????
Pacquiao, Canelo, Martinez, Lara, Trout are all formidable foes for Floyd. I don't think he's unbeatable Cotto before Margarito would've done even better. Paul Williams would've been tough and stylistically Vernon Forrest wins a decision.
