If Lamont Peterson is successful in this fight, then he is going to have to back Matthysse up and fight him on the inside in order to smother his power. The reason being is because Lucas a (slugger) has very underrated boxing ability. He is a boxer/puncher, who can easily time any boxer, with hard power punches from the outside. Every fighter who has ever attempted to box him from a distance, has been either hurt, stopped or dropped by him. Therefore, Peterson needs to keep this fight at close quarters, while targeting his midsection, with a relentless body attack in the process; Because it would be too risky for him to attempt to outbox Matthysse from the outside. He is more likely to lose the fight that way.

unfortunately this is what happens to talented fighters who are from other countries (beating bums, not losing to Peterson). big-name fighters avoid them, because who wants to lose to a no-name fighter with no fan base?

Matthysse has to KO Lamont in order to advance. I don't care that he's a Haymon fighter, he still has no fanbase, doesn't speak english, and isn't well known except to the hardcore boxing fans

GBP (this is just my theory) wants Khan in with somebody that will be considered a "rematch" fight.

Why do you think they're keeping Khan til the end? Matthysse has to KO both Peterson and Garcia to get to Khan, he will not get a decision in either of those fights. BOOKMARK THIS POST.

At the top level though, his boxing hasn't been as good as his brawling. He's become an inside fighter, because that's his best attribute at this level.

He'll have to outfight Matthysse inside, because that's his advantage going in.

this is going to be a great fight.mathysse has some serious power.peterson brings alot of pressure and can punch like hell. love this fight. i like peterson by decision.but i'm good if it goes the other way too. like them both.
