He has good reason to be. The boxing press make up and spread so much bull**** without any sort of punishment that it just gets out of hand. The boxing media had writter up about a hundred articles about the PPV bombing before Dan was even done tweeting. How many articles do you think will be written up after this news? Very few.Comment

The numbers matter to showtime, because although Floyd's purse is guaranteed, Showtime's isn't. The best they could hope to do with this first fight of the contracted 6, is to break even. That looks highly unlikely. This was a great deal for Floyd, but bad for Showtime and worse for boxing.Comment

so schaefer says right around a million, not much over a million. that means that showtime is taking a significant loss on this. floyd is a genius for making the deal. aside from canelo, who else can they put against floyd that would guarantee a ppv buy of over 1.25M (break even for showtime, if i read it correctly somewhere)? the highly technical way that floyd fought isn't going to lure in more casual fans either so it's looking touch for showtime right now.Comment

And they can hire a reputable accounting firm to do the numbers. Right now they can say any number they want and nobody will ever know whether it's true or not.Comment

Oh I bet. I would love to see the promoters fight back against the guys who pull numbers from their asses. I've even suspected some of the TV ratings we're getting aren't coming from legit sources. I read on a legit TV rating leak account Khan vs Peterson averaged 1.7 million on HBO ... few months later some boxing twitter account comes along and says it did closer to 1.4 mill. Which one do you think people believe? The low one of course. Then we had HBO saying Chavez Jr vs Lee pulled over 2 million viewers, but someone with a "source" comes along months later and says it did 1.6 million. Of course the lower number is believed again. Boxing fans and media trust unreliable "sources" way too easily.Comment

It would be ******ed on ShowTimes part, I mean even Floyd doesn't go over all the time and even when he does, its barely. What company would sign on for something like that? The profits wouldn't justify the risks. So if that was the truth it would make no sense. But ppl don't think about this.Comment
