even if they do lose money on floyd they said the benefits its bringing them in boxing is well well worth it. guerrero was just a tune up anyway in my opinion

There are no benefits to losing money for a cable network, especially one like Showtime. You can't market a fight built around one individual and expect the PPV numbers to remain consistent each and every time. Floyd needs a solid "named" dance partner, Guerrero didn't fit that bill.

Point is about the PPV buys, right now nobody know what the numbers are. Showtime needs at least 1.2 m ppv buys to offset the operating cost. Floyd did good even if he just sells 900 PPV. He's walking away with 32M regardless.

Schaefer is getting his numbers by adding 20% to the current total, which is what he said at the end of this artice. so he's saying 1.1 million after he added the 20%

well if you subtract the 20% he added you end up with 880000

so sifting though Schaefer's BS the PPV sold 880k which is near the 900k estimate that was being reported tuesday.

That's not what he said. He said if there is ALREADY a million buys on Friday then you can add another 10-20% and it will total out to be around 1.1 or 1.2. The key word hear is ALREADY a million on Friday not estimating to make it a million.

The problem with these numbers is that they are unverifiable. Schaefer is so used to hearing huge numbers from HBO that he can't take any number lower than 1M PPV. Numbers we don't even know were true. Even the Ortiz/Mayweather fight was declared to have reached one million PPV. Which was highly unlikely. Schaefer is just a lowly promoter to HBO. Just like Arum.

Here's Schaefer at Showtime can't believe the numbers as low as maybe 600K. Well, with a dancing partner who people hardly know shouldn't even be a surprise.
