Out of interest, what is there to ensure that Showtime provides an honest figure?

Just to clarify: alot of people are saying that showtime will lie about the figure. This is not true as at year end they have to file yearly trading accounts which will determine how much tax they pay. If they inflated the sales figure, they would have to pay more tax, which would be an additional expense so this will not happen.

What they might do is say in the next week that they expect it to do say circa 1m buys and the final numbers are not in yet and then in a month or more when everybody has stopped talking about it reveal a lower number.

I wont believe what Golden Boy or Mayweather says it does as promoters are notorious for exaggerating PPV numbers. Bob Arum being the biggest culprit of all.
