We would never talk about him again. Banish him from the boxing world.
    Refer to bums as "Broners"

The problem is he's not fighting Paulie because it's a high risk fight, it's a blatant cherrypick against a weak titleholder who's past his prime. Boxing fans are not complete idiots, they can see what's being done here. The reason Broner would be damaged is because of how he's been marketed, and because such a terrible match-up would have unexpectedly blown up in the faces of the people involved.

And it's not the fans fault that the low risk strategy is dominant in the sport right now, that's about promoters trying to build marketable products. It's easier sell big names than great fights. Hardcore fans would take the great match-ups all day long, but if the wider public have never heard of the guys involved, they're not going to know it's a good fight in the first place.

Promoters with big enough stables of their own avoid risk and build names that the wider public will know instead. It's a safer strategy for them. The fans you're complaining about would take the good match-ups all day long, but they know how the business works and the impact a defeat has nowadays.

Broner's a confidence fighter, so in a worst-case scenario it might be as bad as Lacy after Calzaghe

Good post, I agree. But you know what doc? Every now and then the casinos are wrong, and even the brightest and best of the cherrypickers make a boo boo. For example, Orlando Salado...a guy who lost so many fights couldn't beat Juan Ma...Yet after the fight in hindsight everyone could see that Salido was a different species after all...like the girl in the Frankie Vally song "Big girls" from a distance the girl looks small petite and the guy is supposed to grab her breast real quick....then she suddenly is in front of him and she is an amazon! Pow!!! right in the kisser!

Bronner has chosen a guy who is much more capable than he realizes. I am trying to resist....AHHHHHrg! He yung doe, a yung doe can come back aight?

I think young stars like Broner and Canelo are heavily influenced by their trainers, promoters, and managers when it comes to what path they take in their careers. To think otherwise is ignorant. Then again, I know you guys enjoy talking s**t about fighters you don't like, so I won't accuse any of you of being ignorant, just haters.

nothing really...just means he tried to move up too fast I guess

Move back down to 135-140 and work his way back up...who told today's boxing fans that one loss=The End Of Your Career?

Unless he beat him decisively in a rematch, and possible rubber match (that I doubt would happen because I can't imagine anyone being interested in it), it would damage his career badly.

Paulie pulling thru would be priceless.

It won't be the end of the world. I'm sure he would drop down in weight and be involved in great fights at 135 or 140. I doubt Broner will remain undefeated for long anyway. He had no answers for Ponce in a fight he clearly lost, and was getting pieced up and losing rounds to Gavin Rees early.
