Douglas over Tyson which still stands as the greatest upset of all times. Actually the writing was on the wall for both. With Jones I personally expected it when he decided to drop back down from heavyweight to light heavy. Tyson however was more of a shock. Yes he switched trainers, got a divorce and looked to be losing a step, but I still seen him stopping Douglas. I even ignored the photo of Greg Page flooring him in sparring that was in the Paper leading up to the fight. Fight night was a complete shock!

while Douglas was K.Ded and escaped with long count against Tyson who has ill preparation , Douglas was lucky and it was the match of his life , if he met with tyson 100 times , Tyson would win 99 .

Yeah but people always knew that someone would catch him one day and it'd be lights out. Tyson was a monster. Barely anybodycould last the distance let alone beat him, and to knock him out no less. Shocking stuff.

when a man is a 40-1 underdog according to some and multiple casinos in vegas wont take bets on he fight, you know its a massive upset when that guy then goes on to win.

This isn't taking anything away from what Douglas accomplished that night, just pointing out that it was quite unlikely to happen. I think with the odds being 42-1 you'd expect an upset about twice every 100 times.

i wasnt around to remember tyson-douglas, so i cant really answer the question myself. but i think the reasons for people picking douglas-tyson make no sense at all.

RJ didnt dominate the first round? so what? its the first round, roy was always a careful fighter. in fact the first round went exactly to script as far as RJJ fights went back then, it was about as good a first round as he always had.

if anything the first fight with tarver is what made it less shocking, but people really bought into the weight thing so who knows. i find it hard to believe that no a single person saw tysons decline coming the way he was training, the people he surrounded himself with and how he was living outside the ring.

i get why people didnt think douglas would be the guy to do it, based on what he had shown in the past and how tyson was still getting results even though he was straying from what made him special.

like i said to begin with im not saying i disagree i just to agree with the reasoning. ultimately i think tyson was just a bigger international star, he had more casual fans who understood less and paid less attention to boxing. there was a bigger buzz when he got stopped by douglas, it was a bigger deal.

at the time he was overrated as well, i was about to say douglas wasnt as good fighter as tarver. then i came to think of how tyson wasnt as good a fighter as jones either, but then like i said tyson was overrated at the time.
