Unless the charges don't stick somehow, Wilder is probably going away for a while. You're all wet. He WILL see jail time. Vegas and NYC don't fool around with trailer trash guys beating women. Floydie's case was only minimized because he's Floydie. And BTW, even you are doubting your story. First it's 'I guarantee it', then it's 'highly unlikely'.Comment

Good point, I was sort of thinking that too. Talk about jumping to conclusions.
How is 'domestic' in domestic violence defined, anyway? If it was a hooker would it not be assault instead of domestic violence? I always interpreted domestic violence as that which occurs within a household/among family. I don't know what the term really means though.Comment

For what it's worth, this is the wikipedia definition:Good point, I was sort of thinking that too. Talk about jumping to conclusions.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say it was his girlfriend/wife, with whom he was vacationing in Vegas, and they had a fight. Maybe she through a lamp at him or something. Who knows.Domestic violence, also known as domestic abuse, spousal abuse, battering, family violence, and intimate partner violence (IPV), is a pattern of behavior which involves the abuse by one partner against another in an intimate relationship such as marriage, cohabitation, dating or within the family.[1] Domestic violence can take many forms, including physical aggression or assault (hitting, kicking, biting, shoving, restraining, slapping, throwing objects, battery), or threats thereof; sexual abuse; emotional abuse; controlling or domineering; intimidation; stalking; passive/covert abuse (e.g., neglect); and economic deprivation.[1][2]Comment

She wasn't even arrested. (I didn't think I recalled her having been when I read it.)
You guys should learn to read a bit more carefully maybe.
Police were called at about 7:30 a.m. on May 4 for a reported battery at a hotel in the 3700 block of South Las Vegas Boulevard, an area that is known as the famed Las Vegas Strip. Security officers there had a male and a female in custody, according to Laura Meltzer, a spokeswoman for the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.
The woman had swollen eyebrows, a possibly broken nose, a cut lip, and red marks on her neck, according to officers. She was taken to University Medical Center of Southern Nevada and treated for her injuries.
Wilder was booked into Clark County Detention Center. He’s since been released.Comment

Nobody said that. It's the fact that he allegedly beat her ass. Why would you beat down a girl you pick up at a club, bar or casino? The point is to get some not perform heavy bag training.
It's all speculation but it doesn't look good for dude.Comment

yes, that's exactly right. i am one of the dumbest [most idiotic, shall we say] posters on this board, and i never leave the NE penthouse.
i should have included a disclaimer outlining that everything we were discussing was done in speculation.

Please allow me to clear up some misconceptions I saw in comments:
The charge is one of domestic violence. For that to be the case, police need to establish that there is a relationship.IDK if beating up a random woman would have been domestic violence and not assault or battery, even if a **********.
Now, if she was a hooker and they suspected he was actually her pimp, then it would be more like a domestic violence charge - because there is a pre-defined relationship there.
But that's going pretty far so I'd assume it was someone he knew.
The comments below are not true. The woman was not indicated by police as having been arrested. Rather, the hotel security had both the man and the woman in their custody when police were called. The only arrest was Wilder. The woman was taken to the hospital.
Originally posted by New Englandwith the little info we've got we can only speculate.
i speculated about it being a hooker only because it was in a vegas hotel, and they were both arrested.Originally posted by FeFistI need to know the ins and outs before I cast judgement, the fact that she was arrested cast some doubt in my mind regarding her innocence in this fiasco.Originally posted by swagswagThe woman got arrested too and in cases like these, I would think that the only way the woman could get arrested is if she provoked the man (Deontay Wilder). I am just assuming but I don't think Wilder will spend a long time in jail if any at all. Unless he has a record.Comment

i read just fine. being "in custody" of police officers or security is often associated with arrest. the assumption that both were arrested given the literature i've read is / was not a reasonable one.
arrest is the process by which you're taken out of your own custody. the definitions legally and in the language that we use for both are very similar.Comment
