The pretentiousness of this statement is both hysterical and insulting at the same time.

If Pedro was a great fit then Cotto wouldn't be leaving. There was obviously something Cotto felt was lacking.

i think pedro did a good job with cotto but i think he f'ed up the high altitude training for the trout fight. he was obviously in much better shape vs. mayweather. cotto was beating trout and gassed. thats why i still have hope that he's not done.

Canelo has managed to build a very good defense since that fight but the question remains about his chin...can he take a punch???

No one has landed a solid punch on him yet since Cotto's fight.
Jose Cotto was landing combinations, but even though he got rocked (a younger) Canelo still took them.

Wins. In reality he fought a good fight against Mayweather and Trout. One was too good, the other too big.

It could be that or it could be something completely psychological.

Maybe Diaz has an annoying habit or a rude demeanor that was getting on Cotto's nerves. Maybe Diaz was getting too pushy and Cotto felt like he was overstepping his bounds.

It's hard to speculate unless Cotto himself comes out and states his reasoning.

Success and failure is usually the reason why people stay or leave trainers, but until they actually state their reasoning then it's all baseless speculation.

Just like people judge coaches in football and basketball, you aren't a good fit unless you get the wins. So regardless of performance, maybe Cotto is using that line of reasoning.

Accept responsibility for your losses Miguel. Stick with Diaz.

Im staring to think this **** is mental for him. Is like he put the blame on his trainer to avoid losing confidence in himself but if it helps him win fights who cares.

Cotto doesn't like to be yelled at and constantly pushed, even though he needs it. A reason he had issues with his uncle and he said Diaz does it during the Mayweather 24/7. It's why he like Steward and Santiago, they're more laid back and Santiago let Cotto call the shots. He needs it though and needs to realize that's where we've seen him at his best.

Some guys respond to different things and even though he may not like it, this is about winning and legacy. It's not supposed to be easy.

Losing to Margs the first time did damage to his psyche he has seemingly never recovered from, even the rematch didn't completely heal it.
