No he wouldn't. The 40,000 strong Argentinian crowd spat and threw drinks on them on the way in and tore up the ring after the Martinez fight despite the card not being over. There's no way Murray was getting a decision and I'm not sure he would even have wanted one.

Never in my whole life have I felt so much excitement and fear at the same time. The crowd were fighting to get towards us, making death signs to us, spitting, throwing drinks. We were lucky that Neil Marsh had asked the security staff from the hotel who had been deputised to follow us to walk us to the ring. If they hadn't been around us, Martin might not have made it to the ring.

To be honest, if he'd won I don't think we'd have made it out of there alive. It was already like being thrown to the lions. When the fight finished, the crowd went crazy and hundreds were diving into the ring wrecking it so we did well to get out.

We all had to feel for Gary Buckland.

The super-featherweight had done ten weeks training, flown 7,000 miles to fight Fernando Saucedo in a world title qualifier and got there to fight at 7.30pm only to be told he was going on later. He was waiting in the dressing room watching it on TV. But by the time the fans had finished with the ring, after Martin's fight, there was nothing left of it.

They'd smashed all the wooden supports underneath and they had to cancel the fight because the ring wasn't fit to be used. It was massively frustrating for him. It was such a shame because the WBC silver was at stake and a chance to be ranked in the world's top 10.
I've been all around the world, involved in big tournaments; the Olympics, World Championships, Commonwealth Games and nothing has come close to the atmosphere or what I saw in Argentina.

    Savages.

If these fighters are so good why dont they come to England to fight him rather than Murray or the other Brits going to their home towns

Well to be fair Sturm, Martinez and Chavez are/were all bigger draws than him and were the ones with belts. Well, Chavez doesn't have a belt but whoever he fights next they'll probably put one on the line. The same isn't true of Murray.

If Murray wanted to fight on home soil he could go after the likes of Darren Barker, but IIRC he already tried that and Barker's team weren't interested. I think a good fight for his career progression and the division would be him against someone like Andy Lee or Proksa, but realistically Chavez is the biggest payday out there for him and also the most significant potential win. I think that's what he'll probably go for.

Jr will beat Martin Murray in a fight that proves Martinez won the battle vs Jr but not the war. Jr put Maravilla on course for retirement. If Sergio ever grows some balls and fights GGG then Golovkin will put the nail in his coffin. He's done. Murray fought him too close to win a decision in Argentina but I think Jr is big enough to handle anything Murray has and get the nod.
