Times where a win's value is increased later in time

Go for it...times where a win's value is increased because the loser has a good career after the loss

Definitely not when the loser had 2 jump to weight classes and then got cheated on the scales.

It's more of a myth than anything... it gets discredited because, "Oh he was green then, he wasn't the fighter he is now." People will say a fighter got better from the loss, not that they were already that good.

The first thing that came to my mind was obviously Lennox Lewis and Vitali Klitschko.

Because Klitschko would go on to become one of the greatest HW's in history after that loss.

Because he was so dominant post Lennox Lewis, it enhanced Lewis' career because he was the last guy to beat him.

If Vitali ended up getting knocked out and losing after the Lewis fight that win would be insignificant. But Because he has dominated his era, it looks a lot better on Lennox. Then people can draw the conclusion that Lennox could have also dominated this era.

            Vitali enhanced Lennox Lewis' legacy.

Calzaghe's win over Hopkins. Debatable decision obviously but most though Hopkins was pretty much over the hill coming towards the end of his career. 5 years later he's still in and around the top level.

                Mayweather-Marquez
                Marquez-Pacquiao II*
                Bradley-Vazquez
                Marquez-Salido
                Froch-Pascal
                Judah-Matthysse
                Pacquiao-Cotto
                Hopkins-Johnson
                Jones-Hopkins I
                Jones-Tarver I
                Jones-Gonzalez

                To a lesser extent:

Canelo-Vazquez 2x - Canelo's 3rd pro fight, Vazquez' 1st pro fight; they rematched in Vazquez' 24th pro fight and Canelo's 21st pro fight.

                Margarito-Martinez - Martinez's 18th pro fight

Roy Jones' win over James Toney. Simply because of the remarkable second wind Toney got in his career after that loss.
